I made a dumb mistake on .6 file size checking, I have updated the RAR to a corrected version.
I'll add tga padding at a later date (tomorrow because fixing that made me tired).
Nice job! I'm really tired after experimenting with waves a lot tonight.................. ......................... .......Zitat:

Sorry, this is WAY off topic, but it's been bugging me and I don't think of it worthy enough for a new topic.. I'm using 3.03OE-C.. how do I change the text of the menus? .. X-Flash V18k just kicks me out, and that was what I used before in 2.71SE..
On topic: All of these developments in the area of XMB modding makes me wonder.. what's next? Font color? As that's probably about the only thing missing lol
More on topic: Has anyone figured out why the RCO doesn't work if it's not a specific size?
The text is located in topmenu_plugin.rco. You need an unencrypted version of it to be able to edit it.Zitat:

Font color would kick some major butt. I have wanted to change font color ever since I started using custom fonts. Maybe someone will stumble on to it, who knows.Zitat:

Don't know, if the file is not within certain tolerence range they will either freeze or not appear.Zitat:

This is my first attepmt at it, didn't quite come out as planned but it still looks quite cool...Zitat:

Believe it or not, i did this intentionally.

Yes, that is the xmb wave greeting you.
Can you upload it?
I cant really see it in the pic due to the black background but I think it looks like a PS3 wave.
I succesfully got a picture to show up!

Dame but picture is a reversed red "DT"(draw it backwards). I then made it slim by using free transform and bringing in the sides to make it enlongated so it's not so stretched as the smiley:

For kicks:

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a73...orGF/crono.jpg Crono, wasn't elongated enough.
Text and images in the wave look cool...
I'm working on a new pack today, here's the first wave from it, called "Green Blue" (Won't be available for download until pack is done). From the way it's done in .tga, it comes out like 4 waves!

=Update=
Another new wave for the pack! ("Green Blue White")

There's a cool one called "ocean spray" that I've come up with, i've yet to make it into a .rco though! I've got a few ides for some cool waves, IF I can get them to work.
by the way, if anyone wants to know how the wave is displayed:
Think of a rubber circle. You grab it by the sides and stretch it real hard. The top and bottom are your waves but there are two people stretching another circle thats excatly the same as yours. When the PSP is display your images, it's actually showing it stretched horizontally and 2 of them over lapping(one slightly lower and one slightly higher).
nicinico and I have cleaned the code and added tga padding. I have updated the rar to version .7

rcotool, research on textures, edited texture by Z33
orignally found by DarkStone
bat file by vb_master
some code for bat borrowed from autopopstation4
FCUT v1 by Y.F. Gamzun / VG Soft, Hong Kong (1996)
code cleanup and padding by nicinico
Templates by Al-Zamli
Instructions for use
------------------------------
!!!!NO MORE HEX EDITING REQUIRED!!!!
1. Read the tutorial by Al-Zamli from QJ.NET forums (2 mirrors), you can read it at: http://pspjunk.org/tgawavetut/index.html OR http://vbmaster.portablesofdoom.org/...tut/index.html
2. Open your TGA in Photoshop/GIMP/etc. Edit to your satisfation (but make sure you read the tutorial first!)
3. Save it exactly how the tutorial says (Indexed Color, Local (selective), 32 (or less) colors, Black and White with Transparency, and Diffusion.) You can now save the TGA as any name you wish.
4. Run start.bat. It will guide you through the rco creation process. Specify the TGA you would like to inject and relax as it does the rest (no more hex editing required)
5. Put system_plugin_bg.rco that was created in /vsh/resource/
6. Done!
Notes
------------------------------
I have included the flames.tga by Z33 to show an example of completely custom waves.
Watch the video here on YouTube if instructions do not make sense: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEJYbPIJ7S8
exactly what I was goin to say...and I'm allmost 100% sure you're rightZitat:

and btw. what homebrew is best for screenshotting your XMB? I made a cool wave and I'd like to submit :)
After a bit more testing, my theory is right, but not complete. I do know the alogrithm loop is only about minute and then it loops back to the start. 'll time it in a bit.Zitat:
Zitat von darkgenic
Oh, a bit more on the time loop. Let's say it's 100 seconds long before it loops(not right, I'll count it in a second). Say the first circle is at the 25 second mark of it's animation, if you could make the second "circle" freeze at that time then freeze the other circle 50 seconds later, they would be exactly the same. Basicly I'm saying the dual image animation is in sync. When halfway through one animation for one of the circles, the other circle's animation restarting. they both use the same animation.
Kinda hard to understand unless you run my smiley .rco and watch it loop:
http://diabolicalsys.net/flash/smiley_face_beta.rar
yeap totally true.. i was testing the same thing yesterday.. if you use gradient bars like so http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...hara/grrrr.pngZitat:
Zitat von DiabloTerrorGF
you can tell where one line ends and the next starts and thats how i was getting stuff to happen on cue when i wanted.. that txture turned out like this http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...iuehara/hm.jpg using larg block of color like that will result in a thick wave.. smaller blocks equal smaller waves
An even better way to show it loops! A long ass GIF(notice the time)!
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a73...rorGF/DTGF.png
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a73...rorGF/loop.gif
The loop is 50 seconds long perfect(SVC cap makes PSP run slow, it's not 3 minutes).
thats another thing i never really seen anyone mention.. including myself... that because it reflects the texture and doesnt acttually paste it over the wave that everything is backwards....Zitat:
Zitat von DiabloTerrorGF
I didn't notice how the second jumble wave(at the beginning, it corrects later) was actually the correct way(aka didn't need mirroring, in the gif it's the wrong but that's because I already mirrored it) until I did that image. The smiley and DT waves I did earlier were too hard to tell. Their alogrithm is really odd... something I would of not gone with anyways.Zitat:
Zitat von AzumiUehara
Diablo... THose are GREAT! I'll make one that says " MIME " :P that would be FUN!
Make sure to stretch the text vertically for it to look right.(text can do in any direction but the PSP squishes text when displaying it).Zitat:
Zitat von Mime
i just had to make one with my name too!!
i put a star at the top and bottom but you cant tell it a star tho.. well kinda

Plz comment! Thanks. :D
Wow, this is why I haven't stopped read this thread.. all of these new theories and improvements (like .7 of tgaWave, and finding out how to put readable text instead of lines).
Don't ya wish that Sony put all of these modding possibilities as features? Save us (and by us I don't mean me in any way) the trouble of finding offsets and stuff lol
Off topic again for a sec: wAre_aM_eYe, what about removing those annoying TM marks? Want to do a full skin but some things are limiting me (like lack of knowledge in the font department, and lack of skill as a graphic artist).
seski, plz upload the rco, this one looks really fine :)
***edit: finally got it my own, anybody who likes it, too? =)

I tried using tgawave v0.7 and i got a semibrick..
All i did was blur stock tga a bit..(i went to rgb to edit it, and gone back to indexed using the settings that are on the readme).
Before when a wave was corrupt or something it just wouldnt show up.. this time it semibricked.. lol
Its all good now since i copied a customized wave i had done before.
Thanks! :) That Seski's one looks fantastic!Zitat:
