I agree that the ps3 wave isnt that great. Most people just want it because it's somethign different. Just like when people want to get the PSP wallpapers on their computer, but they'd rather change the default PSP wallpaper to something else. Or how people want to make a windows looking theme for their PSP, but their windows computer is all modded up with stylexp or windowsblinds etc.
Anyway, yea, the PS3 wave is like a big noodle. It's ok, but not THAT cool, imo. It doesnt fill enough of the screen.
i dont think its worth the effort to make a ps3 wave, cuz if u really want to make one its gonna take awhile due to the different algorithms and what not between the psp wave and ps3 wave
you can have a few instances where they look similar, but its not gonna get better than that, unless someone finds a better way, and that means lots of extra effort
although many of the attempts come out with pretty interesting waves(ive noticed that half of them arent even similar..they just say "ps3" x_x)
i competely agree.. ive made many waves and i never tried to make even one ps3 wave cause its not gonna be the same exact just close.. that why i went the opposite way and made original waves instead of trying to recreate stuff.. ive seen better that users have made on the forums anyway and with the ps3 hardware is that all they could do i mean seriouslyZitat:

Woo Thanks :) Glad people appreciate it, it seems a lot of people like it as it's had tons of downloads! :tup:Zitat:

I'm loving these new images inside waves, some of them look really good!
I Need Help, when ever I try and load a wave that I have made, the screen just goes blank. I followed the tutorial, except for the hex editing, because I am using V.8. I think the problem is in the rco file size, everybody else's comes out at:40.9 KB (41,888 bytes), and mine come out at:40.8 KB (41,844 bytes), and that is when I pad it. When I don't pad it, I just don't have any waves, but I can still use my psp. Could somebody help me?
Oh yea, and when I try and make the rco, after it says 1 file(s) copied, it says: Error: Can't read file.(This is displayed Below.)
Here are all the TGA's in this directory:

Waves only on the lower half of the screen:

this thing looks cool on the psp screen.. will up if anyone wants
I rather see Targa. Also, I never got into the wave customization beyond the targa standpoint. Has any of the other hex editing locations been figured out yet besides being random?Zitat:
Zitat von AzumiUehara
i figured some of it out... i know basicly what 1D0 - 3E0 does.. hold on ill try to explainZitat:
Zitat von DiabloTerrorGF
-edit-
also you can take that effect and put a targa over it to make different waves then the same old
-= Double Post =-
ok so heres my theory on lines 1D0 - 3E0... 1d0 is the left side of the screen and 3e0 is the right and in between being the middle.. first a warning you can not eliminate any of this data or you will get a semi brick or no wave.. that being said you can switch the offsets around as long as you dont eliminate anything all together like if you take 1d0 and paste the line over 2d0 then you have to put all the info iin 2d0 somewhere else.. make sense? so the offsets are like point of the wave and switching them obviously changes how the wave renders.. too me it looks like even if you switch two lines the wave still jumps to the offset you moved and back to the one that supposed to be next..... any suggestions? im gonna try switching the left and right side completely and see what happens
I agree with that so much. Sony could have made some really cool waves for the PS3. I mean, look at the great stuff that we've done for the PSP with just editing an image.Zitat:

Here is my last mod for a while. I completely remade the leaf, and made a bunch of recolors. Ready to drop all the files into wave flasher v.3.

PS: To CRAZYEYES, do those images above actually have movement on the psp?
paint.net can save targa files... i can only save it and get 64kb,48kb,10.9kb, but not one ever comes out 16.7.
Yea, they are waves. I took the sreenshots at the same time for all of them just so the XMB wouldn't be visible.Zitat:
Zitat von LobsterClaws
heres an example of what hex editing the values i mentioned can do.. and i also used the flames.tga texture that comes with the download... took me like 2 minutes to so it could be better but it just a test so.............

Please check if you have complete list of files in bin folder:Zitat:
Zitat von LobsterClaws
1. chksize.bat
2. fcut-dos.exe
3. padder.bat
4. part.bin
5. rcotool.exe
6. system_plugin_bg_deflate_ part1.bin
7. system_plugin_bg_deflate_ part3.bin
8. system_plugin_bg_part1.bi n
If you're missing one file, consider re-downloading since all files are used in the process of making system_plugin_bg.rco.

Thank You for the help, but yes, they are all there. Could it have anything to do with my version of photo shop? I have photoshop CS.
Vulpix, can you add drag and drop functionality?
Isn't the menu good? I could recode it I guess... I have a extractor also for .9 release.Zitat:
Zitat von DiabloTerrorGF
The ultimate thing would be to make a GUI for it.
GUI would be nice, but maybe just as good tomake it so you can drag a tga onto the bat or exe and it just processes it. I don't mind though, I like the menu. BAT files ftw!Zitat:
Zitat von Vulpix
I think I figured out an idea.. Well can't we use one of the deflates from our old hexedited waves?
For example.. replace the deflate_part3.bin with the deflate from the Duality Wave.. and use a tga?
i wish it was like that but it doesnt work... but you can cut and paste sections from the olders onesZitat:
Zitat von Pharonyk
-edit-
well i colored most of nevadas a while ago and i cant seem to find the same section of hex code anywhere in the delfates so it must generate that part from the tga cause its the same part for color and thickness (duh!) and thats all that was changed to make nevadas waves
Working on it. It'll be released in less than 48 hours ;-)Zitat:
Zitat von Vulpix
P.S. Initial release will be Linux only. Windows will follow in a few days. (Dont have a enviroment set up)
P.S.S.(Or is is P.P.S?) It is very basic, I was planning to do it all with C++ file I/O, but that will take too long, so I am calling script files.
Well maybe if we could work together we could actually create my wave that I posted hours ago..Zitat:

Hmmm.... I'm seeing some pretty good waves these days! Also, on the PS3 wave debate, some want it and some don't. At least the PS3 wave is better than the PSP wave. Bleh. :(
I'm working on some waves myself. It's a little hard to adjust, though.....
