Thanks for clicking.
NB> Much of this post is intro and extra info. Look for points (1., 2. etc) for the main points of the post. Since I couldn't find the intro's forum, Ill do it here: My name is Chris, and I'm a programmer (amongst other things!). Some of you PSP3d folk will know me, and know that I attempted a couple of projects but never really got the support. Well, QJ seems to THE PSP, and indeed, PSP development forum. Intro over. OK, well like I say, I'm a programmer. I know C++, but haven't ever released anything in it. I know Delphi(pascal) and have released multiple Windows projects written in the Delphi IDE. I am know, moving to PSP, to finish a project I started way back before I knew Lua. The concept is somewhat of a hit over at PSP3D, and it is called CTU-OS, a hacking/tech game based on the fictional Counter Terrorist Agency. It will all be based in an OS-style GUI, providing many of the tools yo would expect from a shell (Image viewer/editor, text editor, possibly basic IDE/API...) Anyway, Point 1: 1. I NEED competent developers to help me. Not because I'm bad, because it's going to be huge. To read the full brief, head to http://psp3d.com/ Secondly, this is a too-large project, even though not graphically intense, for a first release, and I expect the reason my projects lack support is that I have no following in the homebrew community. That is why I have come to decide that I should make a 2d engine for side-scrolling shooters (Codename: Gordon, for example). I know it is not something the community needs another version of, but it is something I want to do. To summarise 2. I want to make a 2d engine. It will support custom maps, weapons, characters and enemies, and be open source. This is mainly a solo-project, but 3. I could use a GFX artist for sprite sheets and such. However, it is quite daunting (especially allowing mod support via text files) and so: 4. I am looking for source code of any projects that use txt files for loading maps (CSPSP for example, where letters reflect the tiles) and any 2d games. I don't want to copy chunks of code, I want to UNDERSTAND chunks of code. If ANYONE has unreleased, hard to find or even just code I might have missed whilst searching, PLEASE contact me IMMEDIATELY. I go to Denmark tomorrow til Sunday and my internet access is going to be limited to zilch, but I have a spare day or so when i get back for programming practice. Thank you ever so much for reading this post, and in advance for any responses! |

Download the attached file and study. Maybe it can help you.
I use OSLIB as the graphic engine. Attached file is my own extensions to OSLIB. It's still under development, maybe have some bugs. But it did what you said: Descripe the sprites within a text file. Use simple funtion call to load the sprites, and the sprite will automatically load and animate on screen. Anyone can freely use my code. No need to give me credits. Copy and paste are welcome, modifications are welcome, I don't care. Please don't call the one who use my codes as thief. *** this is a unfinished project, bugs report are welcome, don't expect me to correct it. Some functions included are useless, just too lazy to delete it from file. |
