iMockPod- Make your PSP an iPod ... but better

Soooo, basically I was wondering if anyone wants me to make kind of like iPod for the PSP in C, almost exactly like iPodMock, but I obviously can't, and don't want to call it that.

Please bear in mind that, as I am working on LDK as much as possible, it'll take a while to appear.

I am currently at the stage of having a working menu, battery indicator, settings menu (that does nothing), status indicator and window title.
I am thinking of chaging certain things, however at the moment I'm not sure

I prolly wouldn't use it (PSP is too bulky to use as an mp3 player) but I'd love to see it.

also, one of the "pull" factors would be the fact that it could load all lua apps

ahh, ok.

Lyrics would be v. hard- unless I get them from the ID3 tags, which I can't do ATM, then a text file would be needed, with times for each lyric etc....

I could probably display static ones.

Throw in .ogg (and .flac if possible) support and I would definately use it even though I already have a 30gb 5.5gen iPod, since the iPod can't play back .flac or .ogg without using rockbox or iPL

You could have the lyrics in a text file, set to scroll by the user so the lyrics show up when they're in the song. That's how I'd do it.

I made that concept image before i read your post.

In fact I said I could have static ones that I pull from a file (which is what that is) with a user scroll thing on up and down

it will play mp3 only to start, but eventually it'll handle them all differently, then play:
mp3
xm
ogg
wav
and all of the standard lua sound formats

An idea! 2 Ways that id3 lyrics could work. You could use one or combine them.

ID3 Lyrics:
ID3 isn't that hard to use, even for lua... In lua, it is possible to get id3 tags (including the lyric tag) and embedded pictures. If it can't find the lyrics there, then you could code it to try and find the lyrics on the web.

Web Lyrics:
Use the main code from the wifi sample (included in lua player) and download and/or parse a page to get the lyrics. You would still need an id3 parser to find the name of the artist/song.

A Site using this example:

http://www.elyrics.net/read/[first letter of artist]/[artist]-lyrics/[song name]-lyrics.html

if the stuff in the brackets has a " " replace it with a "-"
Ex:

And an idea I have always had regarding a IPOD interface for PSP would be to use the analogue stick in a circular motion to mimick the IPODs click wheel scrolling - Think you can do it Glynnder?

and ipodmock does this...and you flick it to scroll though menus
