Can you edit other games with the eboot of the game? Also.. that one part in Lesson 02 where it says make a new file with no extension.. I cant figure it out.. I keep making new textpad, calling it weird stuff so it wouldnt have an extension.. but I just cant figure it out.

The picture that was originally next to the tutorial links on here said "Lua programming tutorials" haha ill post a pic..

(mv stands for move, so basically if you move a file to a new name you're just renaming it)

And no, you can't edit other programs without the source.

enterthecookie... you need "main.c" and "makefile" no caps

YOu have it saved as Makefile.txt... it NEEDS to be

makefile No extension make sur you go to tools/folder_options/view and make sure the "hide extentions for known file types" is unchecked

Do an ls in that folder so we can see what's there..

Oh and btw sumpaintballer, when he did the mv, it made it have no extention ;)

So once we get that LS we can see, And for the record with WinXP you have to use DIR unless you run on a core DOS not the Windows command prompt, which is what almost everyone has, haha

Can any1 tell me how i can set the Parental level in the makefile? Like how u set up the icons. (ex: PSP_EBOOT_ICON = Icon1.png)

Would it be PSP_PARENTAL_LEVEL = ?

CYGWIN uses either, but since it's a linux emulator and 'ls' is what you use on linux, well, I just go that way ;)

I think you have to change that in the eboot afterwards shadow, if I remember correctly there was a program that would allow you to change all of that (it was the same one that let you add a pic1 and background music)

You can add pics and music uding SeiPSPtool, and Yeldarb, even though you are emulating linux, You still reatain the original functions of your default command prompt, AKA: If you use it on windows 98, then LS will work becuase there was no original DIR function, but on Windows XP, the defaults are set to DIR as the main function, and that is known by all command prompts...I took a class on this stuff HAHA

And about setting parental controls, I dont know any code off the top of my head, As a matter of fact, I believe it has to do with the name of the file more than the coding, But PSP_PARENTAL_LEVEL looks more like Lua coding, so I dont think thats it, But nice try though! I don't know of any program to do this either, Have you tried searching for it?

today i learned how to change printf text color and the text's background color (not the whole bg) if anyones interested i will post my source code

sumpaintballer - As I stated above, I know that it will use both, I just choose to use 'ls' over 'dir' because I'm more comfortable with a *nix based command line ;)

Thats okay that you use both, Just letting people know that DIR is an alternative. And it seems like people are following your tut well becuase I dont see so many people in here anymore!

I tried your "Hello world" code, and it crashes my PSP.

During compiling, the following error is the only one I get:

Hello, I'm quite new here. Well; I decided to register. I visited the boards for a while already!

First of all, my compliments for the tutorials. Okay, I got a little error during the toolchain.sh extraction, but I guess it will get to work.

The only experience I have with programming is MSX-Basic, which was pretty cool back then and some html code; but consider the last one to be copy/paste most of the time.

As far as I understand, the whole Cygwin package is Linux with a GCC compiler? A *nix compiler? Like Dev-C++ is a compiler for Windows right?

So in a simple txt editor a source code is created; which get compiled to an executable file, an Eboot.pbp in this case, by Cygwin's GCC.

I just wanna make sure, I really want to know every stage; so I eventually can set up a program, a working environment by pure logic and not because 'the tutorial says so'.

and also how the Analog controls are used please...

Check out the included samples dir in the pspsdk.
/usr/local/pspdev/psp/sdk/samples/

the gu folder shows how to use the graphics (copy in particular is an easy one to draw images on screen)

controller/basic/ shows how to use the controller.

When I tryed to compile my hello world app I get this error:

Parse error before 'args'

and the line in my code looks like this:

int CallbackThread(SceSize args, void *argp)

rename SceSize to sceSize

Hey sorry i am a noob to programming the PSP. I have program in vb.net and vb6 quite a bit so i hope this will help. Trying to do the psptoolchain and i am getting the error in the attachment.

James, Have you gotten the GCC package? apparently the one you got is corrupt or missing...I suggest a redownload from a different mirror!

Yes i am XP and i have started from the start of the tut again so fingers crossed lol. Will tell you all how it goes. Looks better so far.

And you did a CD to projects and then to the HelloWorld folder correct? And Make SURE you have the files named Main.C and Makefile *NO EXTENSION*

Do a `'ls` and tell us what is in the ~/helloworld folder.

Probably the capitalisation of the 'F' in 'MakeFile' is the problem - UNIX tools are case-sensitive to filenames.

You can't do a straight rename because the underlying file system is Windows - so you need to do this to get the right name:

Did your computer freeze by any chance? Was this about 2-3 hours in? It looks like the end to me!
