i siad it was my first homebrew, my 2nd day fter getting cygwin, and yes i took it from the tutorial, but i renmaed things and i even said i integrated everything from the tutorials into it, except the backround chagner, and ill make a final of that Stopper 69 once im done with my Kitty Cannon that i am having issues with because my alptop is having problems with cygwin, so in the meantime ill make a short demo fo this game im gonna test to see if the certain controls work:humped: but i ahve libogg so SDL wont install....

This works pretty well, especially considering I didn't really plan it, but there's one really large problem. Instead of using the whole screen as it should, it uses some sort of box at the top left.

The analogue controller returns the X and Y values as a number between 0 - 255 in pad.Lx and pad.Ly. So I divided the screen by 255, then multiplied it by pad.Lx/Ly, and it should come up with the right position on the screen shouldn't it?

Other than that, it works fine, and if anyone wants to have a play around, all the code (source / headers / Makefile) is in www.smerity.com/cursor.rar.

If anyone could help me with the 'box' problem, I'd be very grateful, as I've spent some time trying to figure out what in the world it is!

Smerity - where you work out your calculations for the cursor position, change both 480 and 272 values to 480.0 and 272.0 it will work.

For example, "480/255" will return an int, where as "480.0/255" will return a float. The return type of a maths operation in C is taken from the type of the left hand value of the calculation (if that makes sense).

anyone know the sleep funtion? for example, say i press X, then i want the psp to go to some function, but freeze for 1 second before it goes, what would i do?

The kernel has an inbuilt sleep function, sceKernelDelayThread(1000 000);, measured in nanoseconds I believe. So the above sample should freeze for one second.

I use what you're saying for debugging most of the time,

Pretty much SG57, except I think you missed a zero there.

If you want it to wait for a certain amount of time, put the time (0.25) into a calculator and mulitply it by a million, and you should come up with the right number, which in this case is two hundred and fifty thousand (250, 000).

i need some help. I extracted the downloaded file, renamed it and extracted again, but the problem is that there is no file named toolchain.sh, the only file name toolchain is a pl file, can anyone tell me how to get the sh file plzzz.. :sad: :sad: :sad:

? why did u reneame it and why did you extract it twice? all you do is downloa the thing, drag/extract the folder called psptoolchain to your ~ directory if you want and cd in to it and call ./toolchain.sh, and dont worry about the names of it adn stuff, some are hidden

[IMG]C:\screen.jpg[/IMG] I had to rename the file bacause i extracted it and got a pbp file but it wasn´t realy a pbp file it was a rar file that had been uploaded wrong. so i had to rename the pbp file to a rar file and then extract it, then i got a directory with some files in, but no toolchain.sh file so i need help

Are you installing to a drive other than C:? Type "echo $PATH" and make sure you have entries to /bin, /usr/local/bin, /usr/bin, etc.

Art - I have a feeling you need to select to download and install svn at the Cygwin install. Go back, open the setup file for Cygwin and select svn when you're downloading components.

Art - After seeing you had trouble finding wget, I think it may be very similar to what I had. My Cygwin installation by default didn't install a lot of stuff, so you're going to have to go back to the installer and select a few things, from memory, wget, autoconf, alconfig-1.4 etc... Just install anything that gives you an error.

Art - Make sure you set the whole "devel" package to install with CYGWIN. In fact, click the plus and make sure that "Make" is set to install.

There is no make there, or wget... just three other things
I just asked it to install everything and it behaves the same.

There is more in the Devel directory at the setup screen
if I choose to download from the first and slowest server.

Since it only comes at about 1kbps, and i have to download everything again,
I don't know if I'll get there. THere doesn't seem to be a way to tell the installer just to leave the other files alone.
It wants to dl everything I already have.

what cygwin do you have, what toolchain version, and post all of the code there, not just the window via click and drag the mouse over all the code then click 'enter'

Just did what you told me to, but still get the same errors

hey are you on linux? i dunno but to copy paste the stuff, right-click on the top of hte program thing and click edit, then mark and then click drag across everything and click enter to copy it to clipboard, and i dont no what bintools are, something with teh binaries, i dunno jsut reinstall it from scratch on a clean formatted drive if u can

Paradox.PSP - Try running barebones Win XP (ie, shut down everything which you don't need at the moment)

When I was installing Cygwin, I was a little bored so I went to play Warrock. I opened Warrock, played for a while, came back, and Cygwin has thrown out an error about the fork tool and stopped. I tested it a few more times and found out that Warrock seemed to prevent fork from creating any new processes. Not sure why, though I think Warrock may be a bit of a resource hog.
So, I painfully didn't play for like 5 hours and then Cygwin was done, and all good.

Anyway, maybe a program in the background is causing this error, so close down any unnecessary programs and see if that's a go...

Other than that not sure what to suggest.

ya that happend for me too, i lost my connection for good when i was just se=urfing casuually and on AIM and MSN and downloading some music, so jsut leave ita ll alone and it should be fine, mine always took like 10 hours, i started at 7 pm ended while i was at school the next day, o wait that was the toolchian, my cygwin took like 1 hour

t-devil, if all else fails, don't get svn and skip that step. Cross your fingers and hope you don't get an error.

yeaa got the copy thingy workin .. but no psptools..

The Windows IDE is looking a lot better to me at the moment.
