PSP Programming Tutorials

I cannot get the toolchain to load. It just says not a directory. I installed the devel and wget parts of cygwin like the tutorial said to. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong.
Here is what it said:

aleke are you sure it is a directory, it could be a zip or rar file or something
make sure it´s a directory

ya sometimes, when u download it, it comes as a file without an extension (like a makefile kinda) but its acutally a folder, you just got to redownload the toolchain from the right siource, via svn is the best

svn co svn://svn.pspdev.org/psp/trunk/pspsdk

thall give you a folder with it in it

Art - probably because you already have the latest toolchain ;)

and t-devil, I don't think it's your connection, I think it's CYGWIN not being able to use your connection. Google around and see if you can find any similar problems (dont use psp specific stuff, do CYGWIN stuff)

What folder is wget supposed to be in?

Since doing that I have another folder in my Local folder called PSPSDK.


If I now type ./toolchain.sh , It says ERROR make sure wget is installed still.

It's supposed to be in "web"

Do you remember what server you installed yours from?
They seem to be each missing one thing or another.

No to worry.
I got wget from some other server.
the toolshain.sh script is running on another PC at the moment. So it looks successful so far, thanx.

Once cygerror is all set up with the psperrorchain, can you copy the folder
onto a CD and replace it onto a new Windows install to avoid this hassle again?
It would appear so.

It may be too big for a CD actually, but yeah, I think that would work.

Actually, while I have another PC here , I will be able to find out for sure if everything goes smoothly.
I have a feeling I have donloaded a few terrabytes of files for cygwin that are not required by the PSPdevkit. It would be good to weed out the files
that aren't required for PSP deving.

anway, yeldarb, think u could put together a quick vague guide on how to get SDL and SDL_Mixer to run .wav files? i just tried after looking at the header files but i still cnat get it to complie error free, and that other mediocre music tut doesnt work and hes had to update his tut alot and gets people confused that dont scroll down and read how to fix the error in it, so maybe just a vague guide or just an example code snippet with just loading and playing a wav file? mor anyother compatible file ud like?

He and I are working on getting the music tutorial to be an extenuation of this series, not sure when the edit will be done, but keep checking, we're working out the details of putting it up as Lesson 06 (after the bugs are worked out of course)

how do i create a text file with no filename??
cus when i create the Makefile in notepad the output is a txt file

T-devil make sure that in Windows Explorer you can see filename extensions like .txt, then all you have to do is get rid of the .txt in the filename. If you can't see the .txt, go to Tools>Folder Options>View> and uncheck hide known file extensions.

I tried them both in the same screenshot ;)
It did run through (left it overnight).
I just have not tried to compile a program with it yet.

all right i gues i can wait, so what libs are you going to use tho? SDL and SLD_Mixer which supports all types of music accept mp3? or libmad like the other tutorial? just wondering so i cna go and get hte libs right nowm even tho i ahve both sdl and libmad
