Anybody heard of 3.10OEA'R+ firmware? I got it China n they did my 3.40 1 month ago!

Im on vacation in Beijing China and took my new official 3.40 PSP with me. This was a month ago before the new noobz 3.50 downgrade system.

They took my PSP to the back and opened it to crack it and when i got it back i recieved "3.10OEA'R+" firmware under system settings.

I dont know exactally what they did to my PSP to downgrade it, i was actually shocked that they did it i though it wouldnt hurt to ask if they can add custom firmware to it.

Mabye here in China they have their own s because i dont see anything in english when i google it (im still in china using chinese version of google) there is nothing in English about it.

I did eventually upgrade to Dark Alex 3.40OEA myself so i can play smash court tennis if anyone cares to know.

In case anybody is curious it cost me 200 RMB ($25 USA dollars) to customize my 3.40 official PSP (they charged more because they had to take it apart) you just walk in and ask, and when you get your PSP back you can sit there at a computer and they help you add games to your memory card for free!! they sell the cd's full of games here. its so crazy here in china but that is a different topic.

i took a couple of hours, mabye 2 and a half hours i didnt count but about that. i was in a bootleg shopping center where they bootlege Sony camcorders, Dell computers, 4GB memory card by sony and every other electronic possible.

i purchased a Sony 4GB on ebay a couple of months ago and i found out that they are exactally the same as the ones here in Beijing, which they sell for $42.00 USA dollars. They bootleg the Sony Holograms and everything and work perfect. I now know that most of Sony memory cards on ebay are really from china.

They sell them (PSP's)pre-made (with custom firmware)for 1500RMB as well brand new which is under $200 usa dollars. they have them in white, blue, black and i think i saw gold, all official models.

any questions about china just ask.

Google searching that v ersion brings up 15 or so Chinese sites..Ive use translate.google.com to translate them all and all i can tell is that people have purchased the PSP with that firmware and are looking to sell it, trying to figure out how the no-umd option in recovery works, and how to upgrade to play newer games. ;)

Maybe the R is added by the shops to tag it as resale unit? Or just the China man being sneaky like 'I MADE THIS, See it says R for my name, Rama Lama Dingdong.'

I dont know for sure, but it seems like the stores just add the R to the firmware version for sneaky fun...

Just to be clear, version 3.10OEA'R+ looks exactally the same as 3.40OE-A. Well i mean it has the same exact recovery menu and options and stuff like that.

Also, when you bring your PSP to them they prefer to use 3.03OE-C for some reason, but when i recieved my PSP back it was the 3.10OEA'R+. i was almost arguing with the guy that 3.40 is the best one and he said 3.03OE-C is better "because it plays the most games for any firmware) i stopped arguing with him knowing that i wont win, lol

Since the same shop prefers to use 3.03OE-C i dont think they added the R just to say "hey i did it" unless they got the firmware from someone who wanted to say "hey i did it." im still confused why they used that 3.10OEA'R+ isntead of the 3.03OE-C

of course my wife is from china thats how i communicate with these people.

actually what happened was i accidentally purchased a 3.40 official before i knew any better on ebay, and then i purchased a already made 3.40OE-A on ebay when i found out i cant fix the official 3.40 at that time (less than 2 months ago) so i gave the official 3.40 to my wife. now that its fixed my wife can play homebrew as well.

not a bad deal for $25 usa dollars considering at that time i had no easy option to downgrade it other than taking it apart and ruining it.

China may have hacked Dark Alex's custom Firmware, used code to upgrade on their own. This would be a cool new forum, i start that theory, it very well may be possible.

What i think is that China hacked the Dark Alex's custom firmware and now have the ability to create their own firmware. Just guessing but they probably learned the code by looking at Dark's.

Here in Custom PSP's are big business, im 90% sure they can create custom firmware themselves.

I dont mean to create some crazy rumor, this is just a theory and im sure its totally rational.

If they did this would be good news to the community, if China is willing to cooperate with the community and release us the updates should they have new custom firmware. They may not release it as it is big business their. They sell their custom PSPs openly in the store and profit off "fixing" other peoples official firmware PSPs.

I dont have a screen shot sorry. If you google it you will see that it does exist in china.

I upgraded it to 3.40OE-A so i can play a new tennis demo that required 3.40 firmware to play.

We cannot know for sure if they did or didnt, but if they can make a bootleg Dell computer, Im sure they have the ability to possible make their own custom firmware, as it is big business there.

They have all the time they need to create one, and they are rewarded because they are after the profits.

To top it off, they are very safe from Sony so they can organize more openly some of their top computer coding prospects (whatever you may wanna call them, lol)

I know it sounds like Im blowing it out of proportion, but you will be really suprised what you will find here in China. They are professional s and bootleggers,

like I said, if they have custom firmware, the last thing they want to do is give it to the public.

the reason why is that they openly sell the service here in most video game stores (or booths at a electronics center).

now, this may be the reason we dont openly hear about China being involved with creating Custom Firmware.

Im not saying this as fact, but as a possible theory because of the version i recieved, so please understand im not trying to start some crazy rumor in the PSP scene.

They are bootleggers. They copy things and rename them something different.

In China they have factories and make computers, sneakers, golf clubs, rolex watches, anything you can think of. They copy everything and go as far as to copying the companies name as well.

You just go to 1 of many shopping centers and the whole shopping center they have bootlegs of everything. some of these places are 5 floors big. Its like a giant flea market.

The place i went to get my PSP customized is just one of thousands of booths on a street that has about 4-6 different 4-5 floor electoronics bootlegs centers.

They didnt bootleg UMD's but they do bootlege Gameboy Advance games, not sure if nintendo DS was bootleged yet.

Beijing is the bootleg capital of the world. Bootlegs are illegal here but the government doest really care. If they shut it down millions would lose their jobs and the economy would sink.

They bootlege Sony Digital Cameras, Dell Computers, Nike Air Shoes, Oakley Sunglasses, anything. Of course, they do NOT bootleg the actual PSP.

When i did first get it it was in fact in chinese. The guy changed the settings to english for me.

Dark Alex should just move to China, this is safe territory when it comes to this stuff, as long as he doesnt talk about politics of course or they will run him over with a tank.

here in china they copy sony and sell it publicly, they steal their brand and sony cant do cr** about it.

that is what i meant. people in china are as safe as you can get in terms of sony trying to get people in trouble.

here in china you can just walk into a video game store, ask them to do your PSP and then they let you sit in front of a computer and help you fill your memory card with games. they do this without the worries of police or sony ever messing with them, because the fact is they cant here in china.

the only thing they can do is hire hitmen, and that wont happen either.

apparently where he lives now, sony was in fact after him, and at the same time he can suffer the consequences. if he lived in china, even if sony emailed or contacted him nobody here (in china) would care. he would be 99.9% safe.

The Chinese governement doesn't give a **** about piracy, I can go there and get Windows Vista for 15 yuan or basically 2 dollars. I'm telling you it's awesome. The black market is the place to get ANYTHING cheap. I've been there myself :).

Spain is in Europe, Europe = copyright protection. China = almost no copyright laws (There are some, but nobody cares enough to check). Authorities in China are so damn lazy and corrupt, you could show it in front of them, give them 100 yuan and they'd just walk away. They don't go after what you sell or do, it's whether or not you have a license to sell it. In D_A's case, that rule doesn't apply to a firmware xD.

I agree, although SCEP is one hell of a plugin. There is no way 90% of psp forumers in China can make their own CFW....

BTW, doesn't the version changer only allow the same amount of letters it had before? So if they had to add an R....that means they hacked the version changer lmao...
