Either will work just fine.

@Adiuvo and Moose: I finally got to install FW3.40OE-A.
Now when I try to install 3.52M33, I get past the M33 creator no problems.
But when I try to flash the PSP, it shows the boot screen and shuts down.

I got to update with my own fake memory stick

Rename the update folder to 'RECOVERY', and place in X:/PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/. Run it from the Recovery Menu.

It shuts down after I run the program


Just something I noticed: on the video tutorial, the icon for the the update folder is different than the one in my PSP. On the video it looks like a picture of the Milky way. On my PSP it looks like tv's bad reception

Hello all
How long does the firmware update take? my update from 1.5 seems to have hung on the 'writing 3.52 firmware....'
this is my second attempt, the first time it was on the screen for 45mins then i ejected the memory stick and it booted back into 1.5

Alright guys, I cannot for the life of me upgrade to M33 3.52 firmware from my 3.40 OE-A Install. I followed the guide which was placing and renaming the eboots into M33CREATOR folder (H:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR), but when I go to the memory stick it says corrupted data. This is with both my 512MB and 4 gig Memory stick which are real sandisks.. help me out guys?

Recovery Mode settings:
1. Skip SCE Logo: Enabled
2. Hide Corrupt Icons: DIsabled
3. kernel is set to 1.50 in recovery menu
4. autorun program from PSP/GAME/EBOOT.PBP Enabled
5. No-UMD Disabled
6. Fake ragion Disabled
7. Free UMD Region Disabled
Advanced
All disabled

Place it in the GAME folder.

thanks a lot Moose Island for such posting such a crisp description about 3.52M33 firmware installation! this helped me to upgrade my TA082 PSP from 1.5 FW to 3.52M33...and now really enjoying it!

but i am little confused about 3.52M33 V2 update installation,
first of all, should i use this update? as 3.52M33 is working fine for all my games (i play only PSP games, no PSX, homebrew, or emulation)

in your description of update installation, you said

Installing M33 Updates How to Install M33 Updates: (M33 Firmwares only) This guide will work with all updates that are released, and will be released. Download the update. I will not link to any specific update, as they are released regularly. Place the update folder in the following directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/' Run the update from your XMB, under GAME > Memory Stick.

but in the readme file of the update it says,

from 3.52M33 V2 UPDATE's readme file With this release we also a plugin to load pops from 3.40, 3.51, and 3.52. The plugin works in 3.51 M33 and 3.52 M33. In 3.51 M33 you won't see option "3.51", and in 3.52 M33 you won't see option "3.52" (use original from flash for same firmware). Instructions: copy seplugins to the root of the memory stick. Extract the following prx of a firmware: /kd/popsman.prx, /kd/pops.prx, /vsh/modules/libpspvmc.prx and /vsh/modules/pafmini.prx and copy them to /seplugins/popsloader/ with names like popsman3XX, pops3XX.prx, libpspvmc3XX.prx, pafmini3XX.prx, where XX is 40, 51, or 52. the red colored parts are confusing to me....

1. what are those pafmini3XX.prx etc files? are those used for PS-1, emulations and homebrew only?

i am asking because, i play only PSP games, no PS-1, homebrew, or emulation games.

2. so do i need to install those?

3. in case i am not installing those files, will there be miss match or problems for further updates?

4. while upgrading from 1.5FW to 3.52M33, i had to keep the official sony 1.5 and 3.52 firmwares (renamed) in X:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/folder
i have deleted those files after upgradation,
for installing the 3.52M33 V2 update, do we need to put it back, or only the EBOOT file included in the
M33UPDATE2\M33UPDATE2\PSP \GAME150\M33Update folder would be enough?

That's a plugin. It isn't really an 'update' as such.

Im still on some old ass OE firmware... Time to update later I guess.

Ok, I haven't found my answer so I will ask here...

I currently have 3.51 M33-2 (WLAN Fix)
I want to update to the latest 3.52 M33-3 release
Now, do I use the original updater that was labeled m33rel.zip and grab the 3.52 and 1.50 Official Updates and update it that way or how would I do that?

I did take a look at the updating guide but I got confused.

Just get the M33-3 update, and drag the PSP folder yo your PSP. Make sure you download it from this site.

i curious what the situation is regarding this firmware....is the installation process just as is as 3.40 OE-A? i've already pre-ordered a few more psp games recently, but i'd hate to think that they don't wind up working on OE firmware.

in the long run i guess everyone will have to revert to M33 firmware sooner or later.....

You gotta update to 3.52 M33 first. Do it just as it says in the "Installing from OE/M33" section. Then you can run the 3.52 M33-2 or M33-3 update.

Ok, then lead me to this M33CREATOR that the guide speaks of. Is it the m33rel.zip file that was initially released for version 3.51 that will work for 3.52 or is there another one?

Should I disable (or delete?) all custom plugins and reset to default theme for the XMB before installing?

Are there any compatability issues with any homebrew emulators or homebrew games? (psp2600, dgen 1.7, doom, gpsp, nesterj, rin 1.3, smspsp, snes 9xtyl, super mario milestone 2, smb iceland, super mario power coins, pcep, super mario war, to list a few)

Thanks NeilR. I bit the bullet and finally bothered to upgrade. Changed the XMB to the Apple one from EvolveXMB, and everything seems to be going well so far!

hello, I have a 3.10OE-A which I downgraded from 2.71 to 1.5 with the t82. I just want to make sure that this will work. What are the chances of bricking? If I do would I be able to unbrick?

Clean memory stick is recommended, and recovery should look different just the color and test but have all the same functions and a few more

I'm a little confused. I downgraded my T-082 using Hen D. Is there anything else I need in order to upgrade? Someone said something about needing a ATV? Is this necessary?

well I finally managed to upgrade to 3.52 M33, I am having some issues though.
1 out 3 time that I start the PSP I end up with a half-boot.
I explain, turn on, when it gets to the XMB it freezes without showing the icons, the battery charge or time.
I shut-down then re-start and it works.

My PSP did not do that before
