    Thought you should know this.

Due to the XMB wave update, if you want to use a custom XMB wave, you must first set the theme to "Classic" and then flash the wave to your flash0. Otherwise your PSP will freeze on the startup screen when it tries to initialize the XMB waves, and will be quite unusable.

If you change it back to "Original" when you are using a custom XMB wave, your PSP will freeze on "Please wait..." and will shut off. It will freeze on startup once again.

If you ever happen to do either of these things, the only way to fix it is to flash the original "system_plugin_bg.rco " via recovery menu to your flash0.

Thank you Dark Alex for making this my day. I've been looking forward to this and now I have it. :-D

But... does anyone know how can I get around to PSN Store or Account Management??? I mean when I play SFA3 Max, the connection to Leagues and Tourneys worked very well, but when trying to connect to either Account Management or PSN Store, it tends to say that the error occurred or the connection is timed out or something like that. I am becoming frustrated right now. I don't know what I did wrong to cause this problem. I hope nothing major.

Can anyone please help me out? Any helpful advices or tips will be appreciated greatly.

so most prx's won't work nor will custom themes? I haven't updated my firmware since getting 4.01 so I need some clarification please.
through extropolar physics and things beyond your comprehension, it might be possible for me to not unconfuse you by speaking above you, below you and using words that i made up completely off the top of my head.

Most of the plugins I have tried seem to work. XMB Eboots Launcher does not work, and neither does CXMB (of course).

There are no themes for 5.00 M33 right now, but I'm sure people are working on finding the new offsets etc. and converting old themes.

I find it kind of ironic how small the new system_plugin_bg.rco is. Only 8.18 KB compressed and 10.8 KB decompressed. And it even contains another wave..

I'm going to see how it works.

EDIT: no, wait. Looks like the new (or old) wave is not even in the system_plugin_bg.rco file. It has not changed much from the 4.05 system_plugin_bg.

    That was just a rumor.

    Once again;
    Zitat Zitat von Alek
There are some rumors around the net, that newest psp fw, 5.00, will block the access to PSStore to non-original firmwares.

It will be interesting to clarify that this is just a rumor, and it's most probably a fake information.

You'd might remember times where someone said that 3.00ofw was going to be THE firmware, unhackable, etc etc.

Well, atm, using the future systemctrl.prx for 5.00 cfw, it doesn't even blocks the partial cfw made by now, so from here it's interesting to confirm that you shouldn't believe on rumors. So, PSStore won't be a problem with future cfw's.

I got an "Error: EEEEEEEEF" or something when the CFW was 92% installed, and then it seemed to be frozen with no way to press "O" or anything to exit the error message, so I tried the power switch; no luck, so I took out the battery and now when i try to turn the PSP on, I just get a blank black screen (I'm not even sure if it's showing any color at all, though the power LED is green) and then it turns off about 15 seconds later...

If you get the death screen after you are asked to restart the psp when finishing the update, just push the R Trigger to go on recovery mode. I didn't touch anything, and i didn't get any error or any problem

So far i am loving CFW 5.00 M33, the PSP Store is cool, doubt i'll use it for anything other than the odd Demo and Theme/Wallpaper but nethertheless, its still cool and its good to see the Network Logo on the PSP, i hope Friends Lists comes next. The USB Autoconnect is handy as well and the new video resolution will be handy for 4:3 content. The new wave theme is good also.

But one thing im not sure about is the Video Out update? What exacly has this changed, Can anyone clarify? I thought it was to do with the interlaced signal option, being able to play PSP games on a standard TV with the AV Cable or S-Video? But i have tested it and it still gives me the error that to play PSP games you need to connect a Component Cable and have the PSP system on Progressive, so no change there then?

    Can Anyone shed Any light?

Oh i see, ill have to try it out when i can be bothered to boot any PSX Eboots on my psp. Is that all the Video update was though? It's very unclear exactly how much had changed and was new from the playstation PSP website?

So now we can view PSX games through TV out? is that still with Component/Progressive though? like with PSP games, or are PSX games viewable also on Standard TV's wih AV/Interlaced Aswell? :Argh: lol, its so confusing, cos the PSP 3000 was meant to be able to output Both Videos and Games to Progressive and Interlaced TV's. ie. The sole reason for getting a PSP 3000. But i was kinda hoping it was firmware rather than hardware that was stopping PSP 2000 users from having full access to TV out. As currently PSP 2000 users frustratingly can watch Videos on any TV with full size screen (not technically true) but Games can only Be viewed on HDTV's which have Component (and with a considerable impact to the size of the screen i might add, unless you have a good Zoom mode on your HDTV.

I wish Sony would be a little clearer in their descriptions of new Firmware updates!

help! I have the same problem. But recovery mode is a no-go. Pandora doesn't work either. I have to restore from a nand backup.
If pandora doesn't work, then I don't know how you are going to restore your PSP from a nand backup.

You know what? If you want to make a difference, then go suicide bomb Sony. That'll take care of both problems.

Another thing that interested me was the fact that we can now download games, albeit old ones, and same price as UMD's from the PSP store, well, anyone know how they run? i mean if the PSP 3000 cant get CFW, then surely the other possibility is to hack the way the new psp's run the official PSP games from the memory stick? No? Ok so no Emulators or Homebrew can be run on PSP 3000 but ISO's and PSX games could be?

Can u upgrade from 3.90 m33 directly or u have to be on 4.01 at least ?
You can upgrade from 3.90m33 to 5.00m33 without going through 4.01. I did it and it is safe through my PSP phat. Works for Slim too
