Didn't know where else to throw this. But I figured this would probably be the best place since it does deal with the firmware.
Yesterday I had decided i wanted to play metal gear solid on my psp. After throwing version of it onto my PSP. I found that the sound was skipping erraticly and the speech become a pain in the rear to hear. After searching on the net and finding that no one had any solution. I decided to do a bit of digging myself.
I came up with the idea that perhaps. Since i am using a US PSP. The firmware is from the US. The PS1 emulator must be using the SCPH1001 bios file. I got my hands on a PAL copy of MGS, and put it into EPSXE, and alas. the game skipped and everything, just like the psp.
Now since the SCPH1001 is NTSC version and I was trying to use a PAL game. the fps was locked at 50 fps and causing the game to lag and skip around since of course, the PS1 emu was set to NTSC mode.
I tried it in the same environment with an NTSC copy of the game and it played perfectly. no frame lag or audio skipping.
I then took said NTSC version of MGS, and PSX2PSP 1.42 and converted both ISOs into an Eboot and put it into my psp. It played beautifully. No lag. No audio bugs.
I dont know if this solution to problems with popstation has been found by another yet or not. But it appears that the popstation that comes with CFW is infact, running off scph1001(NTSC) trying to play an eboot made from a PAL iso(even with the conversion patch) does not work and the results will not be as good as you think.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I apologize if this has already been found out.
