Ok... VERY STRANGE!
I just bought the PAL version of SvR 2006 PSP and although the 2.50 update IS on the UMD I booted the game on my V2.00 PSP and it booted up all the to the "Press Start" main menu!! I didnt have time to actually play it but it looks like the PAL version doesnt require 2.50 to play!!
So, what do you guys think of SvR2006??
I've just had a quick shot (using my 2.00 PSP not tricked just 2.00) and its exactly the same as the PS2 version except lower graphics.
Its a great game but;
Things I don't like:
Intro movie and loading screens arent widescreen
PSP D-Pad sucks so its hard to do a toe-kick (v important for setting up finishers)
Also v hard to irish whip people into turn-buckles and even run and climb up turn buckle again because diagonal is v hard to press on PSP and there is NO option in the game to swap analog nub and D-Pad controls which you can do in PS2 version.
I dont know why you can use analog to control character that would be alot better for me.
What do you guys think.
Oh and n00bs you don't need to use PSPSetX to trick to 2.5 at least you dont have to in the UK!
Sweet. The PSPsetX0.2 worked. This games awesome! I was never an avid player of the PS2 series, but now that I'm able to play it on my PSP and on the go, I can now go up against my cousin and friend in the game now rather than just watching them play. I already transferred my CAW that my cousin and I made on the PS2 on the PSP already. Fun to play :).
can someone please please confirm this for the PAL version, otherwise can someone post an extremely n00b friendly guide to getting svr to work with the version changer and everything cause i have no idea about this stuff and i sure as hell don't want to brick my psp, so please help meOriginally Posted by Angelus3K
What's the linkage to the PSPsetX?
supposedly you can trick the psp into thinking its running 2.5, i don't know much. that's y i would really appreciate anybodys help, because i highly doubt that the Pal version can use 2.o, so can someone explain how to use the PSPSetX and eboot loader to run the game ?
Its very simple, use the eboot loader for FW 2.0 by Fanjita (using the photo viewer), run up PSPsetX while in eboot loader, select 'Tweak Firmware', select 'FW 2.50'. Quit, you'll return to eboot loader, press start to quit. Check your system settings, it should be 2.5 now. Go to the UMD icon, run it and thats it. Agree with most ppl here, loading time sux!!Nonetheless, I've completed the career mode for John Cena....trust me, this is probably the best wrestling series you ever have. It has some really interesting story line, like what you see on tv, its great!! Love every ounce of it. Well, worth upgrading to 2.0 (trick to 2.5) i'd say.
It seems people got confused with the 2.50 update and mistook it for requiring that firmware. There have been many PSP games in the past which require a lower firmware than the update on the disc.Originally Posted by Angelus3K
so can someone please confirm 100% that smackdown vs raw 06 PAL Version only requires 2.0
I can't confirm that PAL version of SvR06 requires only 2.00, but I can confirm that SvR definately does work on 2.00. So it doesn't really matter if SvR only requires 2.00 for the PAL version or not since you can already play it on 2.00 via PSPSetx by tweaking the firmware to 2.50 (the PSP does not actually change into 2.50..it's just tricked) by way of fanjita's loader for 2.00.
what is pal?
PAL is actually the TV setting of UK and European TV's, it has nothing to do with the PSP's regioning but people just refer to Europe and the UK as PAL because its easier.
Basically if you live in the UK, SvR 2006 will boot and play fine on a v2.00 PSP. If you live in the US you will have to upgrade to v2.50 or use the slightly risky PSPSetX to trick your firmware to 2.50 (it still remains v2.00).
Europe and the rest of the world is yet to be confirmed. Hopefully all PAL territories can play SvR 2006 from 2.00 without tricking.
Exactly how risky is pspsetx? cuz i don't want to go past 2.00.
PSPSet has been known to brick PSP's as your writing to the flash (which is always risky). I myself would have no problem using it, but its your decision.
So is the PSPsetX safe to use?Originally Posted by theskunk

as long as u are just changing the version it should be safe
yeah it is , I changed my version and it worked fine.
So is the game good? I was shopping for a keyboard (mountain dew accident) and i saw it at target. But $50...come on. That's a pretty hefty chunk. I may get it later.
What are the steps to doing it cuz it wasn't in teh readme. That's BS! The steps should always be in the readme. T_T
Its pretty self explanitory. Luckly I didnt have to bother as my SvR2006 works on 2.00 hahah!!
I got it to work. And you got you SVR06 to work on 2.0? Then how come anyone else coulnd't? Do you have a U.S PSP?
Like I have said a few times in this very thread, the UK version of SvR 2006 requires 2.00 not 2.50.Originally Posted by Terror-X
And my PSP in a UK one.
anybody got a psp game save they could post for this with some good created wrestlers like ultimate warrior?
No need for a seperate thread on this.Originally Posted by pspxfactor415
i've read that once you create them on ps2 and transfer them they keep all their layers. and the ps2's max layers is 32 but im not sure, but it's about that number. so someone can create the characters on ps2 and transfer them to psp then connect their psp to their pc with a usb cable, cpoy the savedata, host it on a free web hosting site and post the link here. for the old SVR i got my CAW formulas from www.caws.ws (best caw site in my opinion)
What I dont get is how the PSP will let you use 32 layer CAWs from the PS2 but wont allow you to create them on PSP. If PSP can play them then it should be able to create them.
