GTA w/ firmware update 2.6 rigged?

I bought a copy of GTA at Wal-Mart (US) and it wants me to upgrade to 2.6 :(

I thought I was safe because the box said 'copyright 2005'

ULUS 10041 on box

ULUS 10041,UPDL 010050 on the UMD

it seems as though there is no difference between the patched and unpatched US versions. the main updates page said the UK versions have a different number code on the spine, has this been comfirmed?

I received my GTA:LCS today, and it has the firmware 2.00 update, so I am assuming it's the unpatched version (I haven't downgraded yet). The cover is different from the UK version. The description is in italian, and there isn't the "circled 18 logo".

I am posting the photo of the edge of the box, just in case patched versions have more/fewer pamphlets... They may have been shuffled, though, because my girlfriend opened the box.... the white pamphlet may have been underneath.

I hope these photos will help figuring out which boxes contain patched versions, and which don't! If someone has a PATCHED italian GTA:LCS, please post pics!

And this is true, cause i bought a Patched version ULES-00151#2 few days back, and can't refund it! (hate it) - then went to this Pre-Owned game shop, and they have the preowned game of gta with ULES-00151 (refundable). I exchange the UMD
and refund the preowned one... so the guy who next buy the preowned would actually have the latest/brand new gta:lcs UMD. :Punk:

by the way, the difference of (i.e.#2) in seen on the UMD itself, not on cover or anything else....and this is EU/UK version...
