[OFFICIAL] 3.40 OE-A and 3.03 OE-C Installation Guide, FAQ, and Support Thread

I WOULD LIKE TO CONFIRM SOMETHING IF YOU USED THE EASY INSTALLER TO INSTALL 3.02 OE-A

When I first used the easy installer, I had a 3.02 OE-A that would not load PSONE games. You must use the recovery to go back to 1.50 and MANUALLY run the OEUMaker and create the DATA.DXAR file yourself and run the OE-A installer. You should have no problems with loading PSONE games afterwards. (I didn't have to modify any settings right after I installed OE-A.)

I've tried this twice (each) using the easy installer and manually installing and it turns out to be the easy installer.

Note: This fixes PSONE games.

Ok, i have followed the guide to a T, had probs with the blue screen, but not anymore thanks to reflashing a bunch of times. Also, I cannot run any homebrew, i have all the folders in the right spot, but when it goes to load, you see the logo then just shuts off, also i cant run any of my backed up games off the stick, and i did go into the Advanced and messed with that, ALSO, i cant run any UMDS! The only thing i can do is run hombrew when i make it auto start, but thats it. Someone who's OEA works, should put ALL his EXACT settings down, so we less experienced individuals may copy them exactly, but thanks for the GUIDE, Top notch, so can some one help me?

Too many plugins! Disable/remove all of them.

Is this really true ? But the iso files are a bunch of 14.3 mb files and archived. Do i just put them in the iso folder or put them in another folder, and put the it in the iso folder

From the testing I did anyways. I'm not sure on ISOs. I don't wanna try any unless i dump them myself.

an iso file is one huge file where all those files are compressed into. what you have is junk...not iso files.

maybe he has an iso file in zip/rar files??

Maybe all of you should stop discussing ISOs. I think thats the problem.

Ok, so Ive figured out what was causing my browser to crash... I disabled the OC Module and now everything isworking fine.... It was probably my fault cause I had never installed a module before so I just copied the prx into the seplugins folder and added the ms0: address to the vsh.txt and game.txt.... I dont know what else Im supposed to do but anyways, I guess I wont use that module and thats it... :tup:

i was having the same problem! Thx for that but i was just a lil more clever :P. I only disabled VSH oc module but left the game one enabled. Now browser works and game Overclocks works!

One thing i dont know is that damn mp3 module! When u enable it what button do u press to activate it?FINALLY found out how :D. Note + L trigger to activate.

You´re right that works... but I dont understand why not many people are having this problem, I was almost positive it was because I didnt really know how to put plugins, now Im not so sure.... I know that inside the zip file there were a bunch of files, and I just used the one prx and put it in the seplugins folder, and then include the address on the vsh and game.txt files.... is that really all you have to do to make it work?? what about all the other files??.....

I noticed that in 2.71 SE-C every game seemed to work fine with in game wireless to connect to other PSP users. Now, with 3.02 OE, it seems like most games aren't working. Each game gives a communication error message. I'm taking Tekken and Ridge Racer as my examples because I own the UMD's for both. Booting these games as an ISO or inserting the actual UMD does NOT allow you to play wireless with another PSP user. Connections to the Internet are fine though... In 2.71 SE-C, this feature worked from an ISO or from a UMD. Now, it doesn't work on either! Anyone know why this is?

Reset your settings to Default and that should help I think.

Recovery goes in the game folder ? and do I need to keep an eboot of the fw version I want it to recover to ?

hi all over,

this is my first post, after a while peeking... So here it comes with just my 2c to the community:

I had my first (and only, so far...) PSP las January, in Sofia (Bulgaria). Yeah, it's a 1004 model (I guess an EU) for 199.00 EUROs.
I also gor the devkit (great)nstraight away. I instaloled it, wrote my first "Hello, World" app, but no way to get it to run, guess why... My FW ver was already 2.01!!! Ok, that stated, I went to this great forum and found out all the nifty things were behind the scenes. Finally, I upgraded from 2.01->2.50->2.60->2.70. Then I read somethong about the D_A downgrader from 2.71 to 1.50. I tried it, with no succeed (because I was still on 2.70...).
Done this to upgrade to 2.71 first, the down to 1.50, then up again to 2.71-SE-C straight. Hahaha, that was a game, man! It straight away showed up 2.71 SE-C in my firmware version, and I was soooo happy with it, dude, really.
Now, after a while reading all over I dicovered this 3.02 upgrade. I was sooo excited to get my hand to it, that I went straight to my ms (512MB...) to get the DXAR file done. Well, this apparently ttok more than one hour (yes, 1 f***ing hour) to be completed. Then I shutted it off, changed the mm to the 2GB, and I got it done within 3 (yeah, three!) minutes. The very day after I got it installed into my PSP, and now I (proud to) have a brand new 3.02 OE-A on it. :) yeah, I use the alternative smiley...
So, FWIW, I just tell all the guys out there whishing to upgrade or not... DO THE F*** IT!!! There's no way to brick ur PSP unless ure really s_t_u_p_i_d. Trust me, I'm a almost-40-years-old guy, and if I was able to do it, then everybody of you should!
I know maybe this maybe not the very place to post such a thing (4give me, I'm sooo happy that I need to let you all know about it...) but that's it.

Finally, but not, TTYTT, I first bought the PSP not to play with it, but to watch movies an write my own homebrew in "C" language (THE language, for who are in the thing...). And so I did, as far as D_A (wish I can share with you, man, my knowledge, and improve mine with yours!) came out with the 2.71 thing. Then I enjoyed my UMDs ripped into ISOs (3 of them) plus an ISO from a friend of mine: SOCOM FTB. Played like a charm. (Thanx).

TTYTT, I was a little skeptical upgrading to this 3.02 just because it didn't show up in D_A official site (and also because it took that long to dump the 3.02 thing -25 f***ing minutes, then-I-gave-up- that I was scared it really was a bricker...). But after 4 days reading only good about it, I finally did it (happy to); on this XMas Day, in Sofia... Drinking Red Wine... Hahaha.

Ok, now. I had 3 ISOs (all regurlarly owned games: Fired Up, Metal Gear Ac!d and Coded Arms. They perfectly ran on my 2.71 SE-C; and so they do on My brand new 3.02 OE-A! What to say: fantastic.
Don't be scared upgrading, it works. Once again, even if you are a noob, there's nothing you can do to make things go wrong (unless you really take ur battery out) during the upgrade.

Thank you, DAX, for all you're giving us. I'll never suggest anybody to buy a brand new PSP if it wasn't for you being on the scene.
And to all the guys testing it before I did. Wasn't for you I'd never did it, and probably stuck on the 2.71 SE-C.

what are the chances of bricking updating this thing while upgrading to OE-B? it writes to flash0 ?

If you have an IQ higher than 20, 0% chance of brick.

It performs the update too quickly for you to brick anyway.

So you have to flash to 3.02OE first, then update to B?

successfully upgraded to OE-B. Which means I probably have an IQ higher than 20! Yay for me! XD

Unfortunately, yes. But the process of installing 3.02 OE-A is easy and then upgrading is no big problem either.

Can someone please test hosting a wireless battle in whatever UMD or ISO you have? I tried Tekken and Ridge Racer and they both give communication errors when hosting or doing anything with AD HOC wireless. 2.71 SE-C worked perfectly fine with this! Can someone please confirm if it's a problem or just me?

If you're having problems, use Devhook and search for an easy installer on http://www.psp-haxors.com/. You shouldn't have any problems.

If that fails, try changing your Ad Hoc Connections in the Network Settings.

Half of my homebrew are corrupted eg: IRShell and gpsp :(.

As in you have many icons with "Corrupted Data" next to gpSP, etc.? If that is the case, turn off your PSP. Wait a while then turn it on while holding onto the R shoulder button; this should take you to recovery mode. Go into "Configuration" (or something like that) and look for "hide corrupt icons". Press X to enable (if the option is already disabled).

Then you can exit recovery mode and hopefully there should not be any corrupt icons (except from certain homebrew that is).

BTW for gpSP and iRShell, they need to be in the GAME150 folder to be on the very safe side. Or try reinstalling them.

Nope, they are corrupted themselves. And yes, they are in GAME150 too.
