LMAO, I just bricked, because I accidentally deleted a font file instead of the BWFON file that saves space but then I used PSPFiler and my backedup flash to recover (thankgod for recovery mode, thankyou god, or dark_alex for that fact!)

Its not hanging, it just takes ages to do it becasue the 3.03 file is very big and the stuff it is taking out is most of it, so just wait, even if you think it is crashed, WAIT! :)

Different Memorysticks run with different speed. It runs faster when it's freshly formatted. As my video shows, it took me about 2½ minutes for the first extraction and 2 minutes for installing it. My MS is a (formatted) 1Gb Sandisk MSPD. ;)

So after installing this can we delete the 'dh' and 'fbm' and 'F0'. What about 'Module' from 1.5 custom firmware.

Dont need to use Devhook now but do I still need the files in the 'dh' folder?

Is there a support thread for Popstation?

Standard Upgrading to 3.03OE-B from 3.03?

I've just gotten a PSP which unfortunately has a 3.03 firmware. In doing a little poking around, I had an idea which I'm quite sure is not original but thought I'd ask about anyway.

Is there an obvious reason why putting the 3.03OE-B EBOOT.PBP file on a web server and forcing the PSP to "update" from that site instead of the offical (playstation.org) site wouldn't work? Is there a way to "revision" 3.03OE-B as a higher numbered firmware version (say 3.04) so that the PSP thinks it needs to upgrade to it? Or are the EBOOT.PBP files digitally signed or encrypted in a way that allows the PSP to know whether it is legitimate or not?

This seems like such an obvious way of faking out the PSP update that I figured it must have already been tried or ruled out for some other reason. But it seems that everybody is always "downgrading" from something like 2.7 to 1.5, why not "upgrade" to something like 3.04 or 3.1? Would this avoid some of the issues involved?

You should download the 3.02 OE package which includes all the required files and a more detailed readme w/ instructions. I'm not sure why DA didn't include in later releases but it is what it is...

Does this firmware have a way to load devhook and other stuff with different key combinations like harleyg's custom firmware?

    " Controls (while booting):

    * WLAN switch down: Loads devhook
    * WLAN switch up: Loads XMB
    * HOLD on: Loads configuration and recovery mode
    * X: Launches autoboot eboot "

Killer you can load Recovery Mode by holding R on startup. And To autolaunch eboot you can change that setting from the Recovery Menu. Not sure about the WLAN switch stuff though.

Sony does sign their EBOOTS with an AES encryption, so we can't crack it.
Currently, there is no way to fool any firmware into upgrading to this, because of the encryption.

There are a few reasons I could think of:

    1. There is something wrong with your USB data cable, try switching. I had this happen once, when I switched cables my videos were no longer corrupt or unsupported.

    2. Make sure your videos are in the correct formats. Since you are on 3.03 OE-B why not try encoding your videos to AVC 480 x 272 using the 3gp converter with the custom PSP ini found here.

    3. If any of those dont work, try reformatting your memory stick (backup everything of course) and then reset to factory defaults.

You can upgrade from a 1.5 ta-082, If you have 2.8(not 2.81+) You can use 0okms(I dunno if noobz works) downgrade to 2.71 then the downgrader by Dark_AleX.

I've used the Noobz downgrader to downgrader to 2.80

You can also run the idstorage changer from 2.80 once you have HEN running.

    It is very safe.

The only hard part is getting HEN 2.80 to launch...
