If you really have followed the guide, you would have understand it only works with 1.5 PSPs or Custom firmware, with your 3.40 you can do nothing...
and nothing is NOTHING, no homebrew no downgrade ...

Not true, you can run flash games which is sort of like homebrew. A guide is in my sig.
Wow internet browser is an homebrew loader, I didn't know that ...
I don't consider flash games as homebrew...
++ B.
What do they fall under then?Zitat:
Zitat von Maxi_Jac'
Homebrew= Homemade games and apps. I'm pretty sure flash games fit under that.
finally managed to load my PSP correctly with the custom 3.40 OE-A, however whenever after I change my settings not to bypass the UMD disc from the recovery menu configuration settings and rebooting, it will seem to brick up and all my settings will be gone, the whole PSP came up blue screen with load of wordings in multiple languages, need to press O to reset back to default setting.
I can't load my backup games also, after selecting it goes into a blank screen. All other function are working properly.
What could be wrong or corrupted?
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but whenever I try to download the 3.40 part to upgrade it keeps saying that I can't open the file. Any Ideas?
Boot into recovery mode and scroll down to advanced and enable flash1 access. Make sure you have your USB cable connected then delete all the files and folders.Zitat:

That should correct it.
As for ISO's we can't help you with that, please review the Piracy Policy

You don't have Winrar then. Install ThisZitat:

i have a 3.03 oe-c
so i can upgrad eto 3.4 oe now right
i just follow the guide like it says?
Hey, sorry if this has been answers before but.
I have a 32MB Memory stick at the moment (4GB is coming as we speak), so obviously I can't install any custom firmware right now. But, I wonder, is it possible if someone made a .DXAR (Or whatever) file and sent it to me and I ran the installation of the custom firmware using theres. Would it work? Or does the .DXAR file only for that PSP?
You can use someone else's DATA.DXAR for install. 3.30 OE-A(2) + has a new addition to the flasher so it wont flash unless its the correct DATA.DXAR pertaining to the flasher.Zitat:
Zitat von Portgas_D_Ace
So if you can find one on the internet your good if your flashing 3.30 OE-A (2) or higher. Just don't ask for one here as we are not allowed to distribute them. Another alternative is using USB Host,
Thanks. Since I recently flashed my other PSP with 3.40OE. And still have the Data.DXAR so i'll just use that then.
Yes you can install 3.40 OE directly from 3.03 OE-C ;)Zitat:

hey - i'm running 3.03 oe`a and trying to update to 3.40 latest
I've done this a few times before so I don't think it's user error unless i'm missing an option
I run the update maker, and it says game cannot be found - i then tried using the GAME150 folder, and it ran. But then it hangs at "verifiying dax.data" - memstick not being accessed and it sits there for 30+minutes.
any ideas?
-= Double Post =-
nevermind got it, thanks
When it verifies DATA.DXAR it make a SHA-1 verification , it can take time. but 30 minutes :s
Do everything again.
++ B.
Yeah. Both times i've installed an OE, it's taken less than a minute to verify the DATA.DXAR file. And i check the MD5 on the PC beforehand just to be sure.
ok, so....im on 2.81. i get to 1.5, then go up to 3.4 OE-B
and then?
Thats pretty much it. Downgrade to 1.5 (Guide) then update to 3.40 OE-A with this guide.Zitat:

and then for the customization/ playstation 1 games?
ive become a n00b...initiate me once more haha
PSX games, can't with due to QJ's Piracy Policy, customizations, look here.
uumm...theres no PSP folder in my downgrader file?
-= Double Post =-
the DATA.DXAR my psp made is about 18 kb...anything wrong?
Yes...
Redownload the updates, they probably became corrupted.
its finished. thanks.
I have a question. Hope this is not to far down the thread. This seemed like the best thread to ask.
A while ago, I was was really into modding my psp. I have a ver 1.5 firmware. I currently use devohook 0.51 beta to emulate firmware 3.01. I have also used X-flash (in the past) to change the gameboot (to that red slasher thing) and also the boot up sound to the asian "playstation protable".
I want to get back into the modding, and have read that there are far better things now then just using emulated firmwares to finally have a browser and to...um, do other things, that require higher firmwares.
My question is this. Can I follow the guide at the beginning of this thread to start from scratch and get this thing running a custom firmware? Is the gameboot and boot sound going to cause problems? If there is a better thread that already addresses this, my apologies, and could you point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance guys!!
You can use the guide, and no it will not cause any problems. You will not be able to use X-Flash however as it doesn't support it, insstead you'll need to use an app called Flash Agent.
Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply
So in an above post Brad. recommended to someone else that they delete their flash1 I believe, is that safe? I have little quarrals with bricking my PSP but I do feel it takes up so much time that I should ask before testing something.
I understand that it will wipe my settings and that I would then need to reinput my data, but that doesn't seem so bad if I can potentially fix my problems in the future.
Oh and by the way this has to be the longest thread I've ever read through. So many replies, so many people asking the same questions (like mine, though I imagine it is alright I figure be safe for now).
Lastly, why is it that flash1 can safely be deleted? Is it that it only holds system information and the files can be recreated by the XMB when you use the Restore Default Settings option or is there a different reason?
No essential files are kept in flash1
So you can delete EVERYTHING from there and not worry about a thing.
Restore Factory Settings probably recreates default registry files and deletes the vsh/theme folder or whatever its called on flash1
Thanks, good to see there are people who patrol here often.
Hey guys,
I hope you can help me out.
Currently i have devhook 0.52.100 installed and i installed files to the flash1. Is it still possible for me to install any custom firmware 3.03 oe? Or do i need to do something first with my flash1?
Kind regards,
x
It shouldn't affect the installation as it does a full wipe before flashing, but you should remove the files from flash1 by going to the same menu that you chose to flash them in the first place.
thx for the quick reply
No it doesn't wipe flash1.Zitat:
Zitat von SmeshX
But anyway, it doesn't matter, you can install an OE without a problem.
++ B.
ok, got it. Thx for the help :Jump:
I know, I meant flash0.Zitat:
Zitat von Maxi_Jac'
@player_X_: When you install OE you may be brought to a blue screen with about 10 different languages all saying press O, press it and you will reboot normally. Nothing to worry about if it happens, purely normal.
hey thx mate... ya im just a noob. :D just downgraded my psp last week, and installed devhook... but then i started reading threads and realized that the custom firmware is better right?
Very Nice instructions... COMPLETELY AWESOME... I was going to start back up FlashMod, but seeing the now there is stuff like this it sorta makes FlashMod useless... =/ :Jump:
of course it is ! ^^Zitat:

And don't forget to format your flash1 after the 3.40 OE is installed.( or you'll have some options that'll keep on enabling)
you can search forums as we said it everywhere XD
++ B.
ok cool. :D Question 1(lol, how do i format flash1 after installation?)
Question 2 after i install this custom firmware is it still possible to select wich iso u want to play from the main menu?
srry for all the questions ;)
