My quick rundown is:
1.50 is easier (You already have it, duh!)
There is an amazingly small chance you will brick on the transition to 3.40 OE (There are many checks along the way)
3.40 supports WPA-PSK Security for the wireless, and includes all the features of 3.40 sony firmware, as well as support for 1.50 homebrew.
I recommend 3.40 OE as you can do pretty much anything, even play your old PSone games on PSP - without buying them again from the PS3 store.

EDIT: Oh, and you can always downgrade to 1.50 again if you don't like it, but i'm sure you will ^^.

In my experience, as long as your PAL game worked on your PSX or PS2, you'll be fine.
Going on your testimonial and my previous assumption, I've just tried to update 3.10 OE-A to 3.40 OE-A. Following the update instructions, when I go to 3.40 OE-A Update Maker... it's still saying that the Game Cannot Be Started =( (8002014C)

Aha... got it...
For people that don't know... I just follow the guides. I know jack squat about how any of this stuff works. I had to boot into Recovery Mode, go to Configuration, and change the GAME MENU XMB to 1.50... that worked.
I know the guide writer had mentioned something along those lines. Was unsure how to do it though. Sorry to bother again when if I screwed my head on right, I prolly could've figured it out.

is 3.40 OE more stable than 3.03 OE-C ? basically I just need it for psx, homebrew, and other homebrew....

Alot more plugins are being made compatible with 3.40.
Themes are being released specifically for 3.40
There is no real reason to stay at 3.03
UMDs will still work.
Homebrew functions the same.
PSX gaming depends on whether you're using PAL or NTSC versions of games. I don't know the exact details because I don't use the PSX emulator.

the first 5 parts of the guide are done, but when i try to run the 3.40 oe-a updatemaker the white txt shows but in the 4th line i see "cannot open file"
and it goes back to xmb, tried redownloading but still doesnt work
im running firm ware 1.50 can som1 help me?
edit : i have 2 corrupted files along with the 3.40 oa-a update maker and 3.40 flash installer
What are you naming the files?

i named the files 150.PBP and 340.PBP
also i found a ready made .dxar file is it safe to use? but i feel like following this guide
It's safe, but following the guide gives you a better experience ;)
And take the .PBP off the end of the file names.

i have a data.dxar that i made a while ago and i downgraded 2day to 1.50 to use irshell do i still need to make a new data.dxar now for the upgrade

Hm... Maybe DaX should make the flasher check both directories (Although that means checking GAME and GAME150 just in case) or maybe it was just to make sure you really are sure you want to flash it. Oh well, good to see you got it working!Zitat:
