~Basic Silent Hill Origins FAQ~

-if i missed something or made a mistake please let me know-

~Tips~

1. Dont use the flashlight and alot of the monsters will ignore you but some will still attack if you get close and touch them.. most of the game is not that dark so you shouldnt need it
2. Run.. unless your going for the 200 kill prize or the other enemy related prizes then just run specially when out in the street
3. Look everywhere!! this game has tons of items and weapons so look everywhere
4. i dont know if its a stamina glitch or not but if just hold down the run button they wont catch you... even when your running really slow.. i never got caught

~Accolades~

1. Savior - Beat the game once
Secret Item - Lonely Moon Gauntlets

2. Butcher - Get the bad ending
Secret Item - Great Cleaver
Hint - has to be your second play through or higher and must kill 200 or more monsters

3. Ambassador - Get the UFO ending
Secret Item - Tesla Rifle
Hint - Get room 502 key on emergency escape just north of hospital right at begining of game

4. Stalker - Have Flashlight on for less then 10,800 seconds (3 hours)
Secret Item - Night Vision Goggles

5. Collector - Collect more then 300 items

6. Sprinter - Beat the game in less then 7,200 seconds (2 hours)
Secret Item - lets you run with unlimited stamina

7. Sharpshooter - Kill 75%+ of all enemies with firearms
Hint - i recommend the tesla rifle for this. it has unlimited ammo

8. Weaponsmith - Kill 75%+ of all enemies with melee weapons
Hint - id use the Lonely Moon Gauntlets or Fire Axe, or Great Cleaver since these weapons never break

9. Brawler - Kill 50%+ of all enemies with only your fists

10. Cartographer - Looked at map less then 25 times

11. Explorer - Distanced travled in game greater then 22,500 m

12. Daredevil - Beat the game without saving

13. Fireman - Rescued Alessa in the beginning in less then 80 seconds.
Secret Item - Fire Axe

14. Codebreaker - Do the Konami Code during your second playthough or up.
Hint - up up down down left right left right X O X O start

~Extra Options~ (only available after beating the game)

Walk/Run - lets you auto run without needing to hold the button down

Extra Blood - adds extra blood to the game

Noise Filter - lets you remove the static filter from the game

Bloody Footprints - lets you toggle footprints on or off (note that it doesnt effect foot prints when you walk in blood but instead makes every footprint you make bloody where ever you walk)

Torch Projection - let you change what your flashlight shines as such as a smiley face, a soccer ball, a jack o lantern, and a red silent hill symbol (note that it makes your light acctually shine as those pics instead of plain white)

go through the butchers shop... only one path to each location..
also i made a type o with the Doll puzzle part... and i fixed it

Anyway, my reason for posting (and registering) is that with this game, I've really felt the urge to play it on a bigger screen. I have a fat PSP, so I finally looked into RemoteJoy and got it up and running, but it seems to have some sort of graphical issue (with Silent Hill). It's sort of difficult to explain, but basically the graphics are cut off and flickering. Almost like the result you'd get when trying to run a CRT monitor at a higher resolution than it's capable of. I was able to load my game and walk around, and the frame rate is excellent. Of course it's completely unplayable with the way it's displayed.

Has anyone else tried this game with RemoteJoy? And if getting the same results, are there any chances of fixing it?

i never used remotejoy cause i have a ta82 with broken keys and i could never get it to work.. but i did try to take screen caps of silent hill on 3.52 and every pic was ruined.. i dont think the game likes screen caps or stuff like that unless you get a slim and do it that way

on a side note ive already beat the game 2 and a half times and almost done with my 3rd lol ive gotten about half of the accolades.. the tesla gun as the name suggest shoots lightning and never runs out

So wait, are you saying that screen caps (and possibly RemoteJoy) work with Silent Hill on the Slim? Or are you saying that you should get screen caps via the Slim's TV-out function?

no i mean with the tv out feature... ive tried again and still have no luck taking any screensots of silent hill.. thats not saying its impossible just the few things i tried didnt work... im gonna try a few other of the screen caps things like scep and see if there any different results

my third time around i decided to try and beat the two hours and get the accolade well i think i did plus an hour and 8 minutes lol so i took a picture and i got 5 accolades for it

how do i get passed the doors in the hospital, im on the first floor after you go down the stairs, there was a undead doctor, and two doors with plaques on them.. i dont know what to do next...

one of the plaques require glass eyes to open and the other takes a golden egg... the egg is in the other world on the second floor... easy to find... the glass eyes on the other hand are in the dummy you have to put all the organs in

its in the other world.. cant get it out in the normal world.. just look in the mirror and go donw the the pipe room

im know the service pistol is in the desk drawer and the taget pistol is in a wheel chair in the other world.. as far as which room i cant remember off the top of my head.. i think its in one of the solariums

I've almost officially stopped playing this game...kinda frustrating and the invisible monsters creep me out...so do the big dog things.

ahh you havent seen the one monster then.. hard to desribe.. its like a monster with a nasty looking person growing out the top.. and the HUGE dog things.. really the game is nothing after you beat once.. creepy part is the music and the sound effect but i play with the sound off... now i got unlimited ammo with the tesla gun so it like an arcade game lol.. i beat the whole game without getting hit lol

I have seen the one with the person sticking out..it was in the basement of the Sanitarium..freaking nasty.

oh yeah there is one down there i forgot...
butcher is a punk... i expected more from a pyramid head type character.. PH woulda slapped him .. bad ending is the best one.. ufo ending is just dumb.. maybe the game is just not as freaky to me cause i spend alot of time in the dark anyhow.. i like the dark

here my save with almost all the costumes and all the extra weapons unlocked.. you can put on the bloody mass murder clothes and run around with a fire axe just like sh4 or you can use butchers knife.. im only missing like three costumes

What really impresses me about this game is the music and audio quality. With headphones on, there are so many subtle things to hear. The fog seems very well done for a portable system too. The variety of melee weapons was interesting, but they all just break so fast. My first time though I killed about 80 enemies with my fists, 60 with melee and 40ish with guns. If the weapons didn't break so fast, I am sure the number of melee kills would have been a lot higher.

I only wish the game was longer. At the least there could have been a re-visited hospital near the end, with some different textures, different things in some rooms, etc. The endlessly re-spawning enemies in the town only serve to annoy me too, it's too bad they couldn't have made exploring the town a little more enjoyable.

Overall though, I think it does a wonderful job of re-creating a TV anchored Silent Hill experience. I hope they use the engine they have now to make another Silent Hill game, or to actually do a re-make of the first one.
