has the glass ceiling really been broken -- or at the very least, cracked? the popular homebrew will be officially landing on Sony's PSN tomorrow.
it seems promising, how Sony acknowledged the creative genius of the indie devs. despite their anal stand regarding homebrew, this particular concession speaks a lot of the many more possible wonderful collaborations between sony and the indie community. but will it actually propser? or is no gravity just an astounding exception to sony's clear-cut rule against all that is homebrewed? if we were to see a repeat of this phenomenon, what homebrew game would you like to see crossover to the mainstream PSN? |

The developers of No Gravity created a company, to distribute homebrew games officially.
http://www.anozor.com/ So if a homebrew dev has a good game... they should contact Anozor. Bugz, must have. |

wasnt Everyday Shooter a homebrew game originally?? or at least developed by just one dude??
as for other games that (in my opinion) could make the cut.. perhaps the "Callisto" game (at least i think its called Callisto).. DEFINATELY the GuitarHero-esque game "Guitarway To Heaven".. maybe "RockStation" or something similar to it.. perhaps "PSPRhythm".. there is also a few more games by the "RealTech-VR" team (creators of No-Gravity) that might be good enough too.. great graphics etc.. just remember.. if they do make it to the PSN, it would mean that we then have to pay for what WAS previously free.. which is good for the authors, but not so good for the rest of us.. i sincerely hope that the authors are getting a HUUUGE chunk of the profits made by SONY for selling this.. otherwise its just another way for SONY to exploit homebrew devs.. think about some of the features included in the new firmwares.. most of them were either thought of by homebrew devs and SONY has just "hitched a ride" and used them in their firmware updates, or the ideas are blatantly stolen by SONY, yet they are against homebrew ?? in my opinion they owe most of their "innovative" functions to homebrew devs, without whom they would have a mediocre firmware.. of course, that is just my opinion.. |

I completely agree with Vonsta on this...some of these major games like Guitarway to Heaven are high enough quality to make it onto the PSN with just a little more work, but once they're there, they're not homebrew anymore, which means they're not free anymore...I hope that the developers of No Gravity are getting most of the profit from this though (I doubt it)...
I also hate how Sony gets ideas from people who aren't making any profit off of it, and the uses that to gain profit for themselves...and it's not just Sony...the first thing that I thought of was how Datel used some of Dark-AleX's code when they made their Action Replay PSP, and are making plenty of money on that from people who don't really know about homebrew who are excited about finally being able to hack PSP games for the first time... |

ohh dang!! i completely forgot about the fact Datel rorted DAX and its not just the Action Replay thing, they did the same thing with the "Prometheus Project" (i think thats the name) "JigKick" and made their orange "Tool Battery".. and now they have done it again with the "Blue Tool Battery" for the PSP3K.. and to my knowledge it doesnt even do anything
classic! its like having a condom on a d!ldo for birth control, the concept is good, but the effect is irrelevant.. if that makes sense ![]() good call Qowface.. amusing.. then again, paying for (previously free) homebrew is good and bad, depending on where you stand on the dev/user scale.. |
