What do you guys think about this game? I think im about to go get it today..I didnt even know it was this close to being released untill i saw it at gamespot.com
So far ive loved all past SSX games so i think i will feel right at home with this one on the palm of my hands!
COPY OF MY MINI REVIEW FROM PAGE2!
SSX on TourAh yes. SSX..Great Games in the past..But is it good on the PSP? I will try to let you know in this MINI review.
Graphics: Well so far, the game looks awsome. The courses are huge. The High School punk rock theme of random things such as cats, gorillas, and ufos add an awsome unique feel to SSX.(to know what i mean, check this out http://www.easportsbig.com/games/ssxontour/home.jsp ) I only have access to one character sadly. He looks a little "lifeless" i will say. But its ok...I have still yet to unlock other characters. 9/10
Sound: The music included in SSX tour is mostly rock and some Hip hop. Various Artists include Billy Talent,Gold Finger, Iron Maiden, and Jurassic 5. Including losts more! 41 songs in total! It also includes something called "Pocket Trax". Which lets you just run through all the songs and deselect some of the songs on the playlist. This lets you enjoy to your liking. Almost like you had a CD in PSP. Before you can Deselect a song, you must have listened to the WHOLE song at least once. It can even be during games, as long as it has gone through once.
Well while the music is very awsome, the sound IN game so far is kindof lacking. If you remember from past SSX games, the characters always yelled all sorts of taunts and screams of excitment of landing tricks. Also that announcer during games naming the tricks and such. I miss all that, and sadly, none of that is in SSX on tour for the PSP. Also while running through levels, it may get a little dull, because of all the lacking of sounds effects...but the music still rocks.. (listening as i type this) Music: 10/10 SFX:7/10
Controls:: You may wonder how SSX works with less buttons than its PS2 brother or xbox/GC. Well it works OK. Now trick buttons include the O,X,R trigger, AND the square button... All this is dandy, but the Square button trick system bloody annoys me. Sometimes i press the Square buttons to boost, but im a little of the ground,Thus causing me to do a Grab and bust!
Also, as everyone knows, The D-pad..is insanly hard to pull of diagnol presses.Same goes for SSX. It seems everytime i try, There is no way in hell i can start a diagnal flip..I have to start a spin/flip THEN hit the other direction to make it do diagnol. It also bloody anooying at first..but you can get use to it. 7/10
Gameplay: Well as of now, ive done a bit of races and thats about it. So far its pretty good..But i havent played enough tracks and such to rate such a topic.. *underdeterminded*
Differences from Console/Handheld: Well i have not played the console version, but from what i hear, There are usually random people just riding the snow while you race or do what you are doing. Well that so far is not found in the PSP. Another thing is having a custom character start, that is ALSO not found in the PSP.
Well i think thats it, My first Mini review is done. Please tell me what you think.
