it got some bad reviews on EGM...
tell me how it is someone :)
The only review i trust is MINE. I dont even bother with gaming magazines (outside of GI). I gotta get my hands on this, i want this and/or Kingdom of Paradise. But eh what does it matter because all my money is tied up in the 360 that i cant even freaking find. :icon_mad:
i'm not that far into it but it is pretty good so far.
it's like your average rpg. it has a few elements of other rpg's in it.
the fighting sequences are not hard. if you want to do all the fighting manually you have to choose it in the a.i. or else the psp does all your fighting for you.
the characters are cute, if you are looking for amazing graphics well it isn't for you.
the attacks from creatures are random so you don't see who is going to attack you.
the environments are really big, but yourun really fast so you don't have to worry much.
the music is good and the sound effects are too.
the cut scenes are nice and it has voice acting in it.
i like the idea that the game is not another "let's save the world game.
it's about a 10 year old kid trying to save his mothers soul from the underworld.
your items and equiptment are the same as other games and you got espers.
hmm wonder where we heard that one before.
so all in all if you like the older style rpg games that are out then yea you are going to like this. it has the game from ps1 and ps2 with a mid part that is added that wasn't from either.
when you say "manually" control the fighting, do you mean like action RPG or do you mean "you dont have to watch the battle go without pressing anything" fighting?
It's basically turn based RPG fighting with an action gauge.

Does this game run on 1.5 psps?
From what I have read it requires 2.0.Originally Posted by Innoculation Scars

yea, i want to know too. I almost bought this today in the store, but hesitated because i won't waste my money on it if i have to upgrade to play it.
this game works on the v1.5 firmware. the only thing v2.0 is that the firmware update is included in the game.

Since I had to do it all over when it came out down here (JPN).
If translation help is needed, please type in "Translation Help" or something like that on the Title so I can search through. Need URL or the file itself too. But please don't give me your university graduation essay/projects.

Will try when I can......
Are you positive? Can anyone else confirm this? Also, can you rename the main character in this game?Originally Posted by NEvolution

I haven't played it yet because im still waiting for answers to my questions but...Originally Posted by killabees13

Review of Kingdom of Paradise:
Kingdom of Paradise scored slightly higher, however it is not considered an RPG(at least not by IGN). I have heard that Kingdom of Paradise requires 2.0 firmware(can anyone confirm?). If this does not, that makes the decision up for me.

Why? You can still run homebrew on 2.0 btw.
Yes you can, however it isn't as homebrew friendly.Originally Posted by killabees13

Kingdom of Paradise also works on 1.5 , but I much prefer PoPoLoCrois.
No you cannot rename your main character, unless there is an item etc that lets you do so later on in the game.
The game starts with a beautiful anime-styled FMV which cuts into the game sequence showing your main character climbing down a vine. You can see the simple but aesthetically pleasing graphics straight away. I think this is a very beautiful game and really warms you to it.
The enemies you face appear randomly, in that you can't see them in the battlefield, but the game doesn't move to an arena to fight them, the enemies simply appear and you fight them where you are stood.
With regards to the battle fighting you can choose between Manual control and a few other automated ones, such as Defensive stance and Attacking stance. Manual control gives you full control, which I like much better. It gives you a small menu displayed where you can choose what moves you want to do such as run away, attack, special moves etc.
When choosing attack (most common) you are displayed with a small grid which represents the area in which you can move around in. By tapping either shoulder button you are able to move your character around so they face a different direction. This enables you to hit enemies from the side and back casuing more damage. The grid is displayed in blue and the reach of your weapon/attack is displayed in red so you can clearly see where you can move and attack. This grid is only displayed when you are performing a move too, so it doesnt disrupt the beauty of the area that you are fighting in. I haven't played this game much yet but it looks really promising. I like the fact that it isn't the usual fair of saving the world too. As someone mentioned before, if you like old school RPGs such as Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean then you will like this game. I'd do recommend it quite highly based on what I have played of it. If you like RPGs then just go out and get it, you could do much worse.
According to other sources the game takes about 30 hours to complete, which isn't too bad.
Fantastic mini-review Omnipotent! You've sold me on it!
