Well, xmas has been and gone, so I've been able to open the MGA2 pressy I got for myself:) I was so suprised to get it!
I'm very impressed so far, though I have mixed feelings about the solid eye.
There is hardly any english at all, only really the ATK and HIT that is on the cards. There is also a lot of kanji so even people who know a little japanese like me will not be able to understand it! Which is a real shame, because it takes a lot out of it not being able to tell what's happening with the story.
The gameplay is alot more fluid than MGA. Now you control snake directly instead of drawing out a path for him to follow. So now you can run up to a door and it opens then you can run through, or you can run over a weapon or card pack and pick it up without having to stop on that square. Also the ability to crawl a bit and then stand back up in one go is a very fine addition. And ladders can be climbed in one go without having to climb them at the end of a go.
There are now 555 cards in total I think, which is alot! There is now the ability to upgrade cards. So you spend some of your points and maybe get a more powerful ATK or the card costs less to use, but sometimes it costs more as a downer, with other upgrades. There's also the ability to sell cards in the card shop!! Woop woop. So now when you have loads of cards that you dont want you can just sell them:) Though you do get quite a meagre sum for them, but it's better than nothing.
There's also the turbo acid theatre. I think there's maybe 47 movies to view in total, you unlock them when you get certain cards. There are quite a few of onees of cute japanese girls:) The latest I got was a girl in a bikini pouting for the camera, which was nice to watch. And the music is very surreal while its playing, so it's relaxing:) There's also remastered MGS3 videos, which are pretty cool, though I've only locked a couple of those so far. I've only had about 2 hours play time on it so far.
I don't think I like the solid eye. It keeps switching on and off. In the missions it's on and then when you go to the intermission it turns itself off, which means having to remove the solid eye. It can be turned off in missions though but it would still be nice to have it on at intermission. The effects are nice though, especially when you7re in alert, or burnt, as words keep hovering up on the screen(but I'm not sure what it said). But I dont think it's really worth using. I'll only use it now and again for novelty vaule. I also found it abit strainging on the eyes after awhile, holding the psp so close.
There's also two new card types. Trap and Link. The trap ones are pretty self explanatory. For example you can lay barbed wire on the floor and when enemies walk over it they get damaged(or so I would imagine, I didn't actually have anyone walk over it when I used it). Link cards get used by themselves. You can use them to move but if you use another card which corresponds with them they activate autimatically. Like I had one for HIT+20% in my hand and I used a weapon and it activated autimatically, so that was pretty cool.
Anyway I can't think of anything else right now, I'm sure I'll be able to add something later. but so far I think it is a good game, it's just a shame I don't understand it
