1993 SNES Box Art
2006 PSP Box Art
---Intro---This is a remake of the 1993 classic game "MegamanX" made for the SNES.
MegamanX is probably remembered as one of the best MegamanX games that has ever been released....Until now...Maverick Hunter X copies exactly what made the first so good and nearly doubles its greatness!
---Gameplay---The gameplay is suprisingly outstanding. I actually expected it to be a little sloppy or not very good. But when you compare both the old and remake version, it plays near flawlessly the same as the first one. The bosses and enemies still use the same attacks, the enemies are still located in the same place, and the power ups are all in the same place.(Except for the Armor parts)
The gameplay gets a great bonus when you play hard mode. Some enemies are slightly placed in a differnt area of the level and cause more damage. The bosses now also have new attacks so the first time you see them, there is a great chance of getting hurt by it. But these new attacks by no means, ruin the classic game.
---Graphics---The graphics is one of the greatest features of Maverick Hunter. Sometimes it is just a marvel to look at the scenery.
Notice the lower highway. Most backgrounds are fully animated like the one above. The traffic is moving through just makes the game feel more...alive.
While fighting this boss, the round spikes circles are actually moving and seem to be grinding things down....Whatever it may be...It still seems cool and the animations are all nicely done.
The music/sound/voice acting are also very well done.
The music remains the same but just remixed it to be a little more....."new"...
The sounds are all quite the same.Just made a little newer..as stated above..
The greatest addition to the sounds, is the voice acting.
Megaman and Zero both sound great. Some voice acting sounds a little too dramatic at times, but i say its all better than just reading text...
Only real downside to the sound is the music for "Vile Mode".
The same song is repeated through out ALL the 8 levels when you play with Vile. The song is not bad at all, but there is not much variety.
Well..The game has the classic original game inside,New Storyline, voice acting, etc. But the bonus things added from the great original make the game an overall great package.
This is included once you beat the game with X once. This adds a new story through Vile's perspective and all the levels include enemies at different locations. Vile has 3 attacks.
Attack #1)Normal Shot(Bullets/Missles/Arm attack) from his Arm.
Attack #2)Shoulder Shot(Usually conisists attacks from his cannon
Attack #3)Leg Shot(Usually consists of high power explosives or napalm attacks)
**Vile Can not Dash**(But can receive new attacks and upgrades by defeating bosses.)
This has been also added to the game. Now, Bosses gain new attacks and enemies have much stronger attacks.
This is also unlocked after beating the game with X once. It introduces how Sigma transformed to his Maverick state and how Vile comes into the game.
The game stays near flawless to its 1993 game and plays great. Only flaw is the D-pad with the PSP. This by no means the games' falt.
The graphics have been upgraded and pulled together great. The cartoon cutscenes also look fabulous and VERY well done!
The music and sounds are still the same just "new". The voice acting is great but the only flaw is Vile's Music. It is a good song, but to have in every single level? lame...
When we first heard the game we all expected it to be just the remake and nothing more. The game has tons of add ons into it which makes it fabulous.
Hard mode makes the game last twice as long.
The Movie is very nicely animated and put together very well.
Vile mode also greatly increases the play time of the game and we can now see Vile in action.
Any fan of the SNES MegamanX games should at least give this game at try. This game has got GREATNESS written all over it.
