low price, i'd always recommend fighting because it is a type of game that you'll put down but always come back to. RPGs normally are a 1 way trip. Rarely do people play an RPG more than once unless it has a new game + mode with multiple endings. However, RPGs do have the highest chance of hook-value in keeping you playing for the duration of the game.
in terms of $/hr. of enjoyment, RPG all the way. at least for me that is. everyone is slightly different. while i am not at all into fighting games, my (younger) brother got me hooked on the whole MK series way back when. so now, MK# are the only fighting games i really have on my PSP (emulated that is :-))
no, i'm asking for which games in particuliar for the genre should i get, not the genre itself, like whats the cheapest fighting game or rpg game, and if its worth it.
