I hope I posted this in the right section if not forgive me. I am not really a noob at updating firmware. I am a fairly decent computer savvy person. I received my PSP just last Thursday and it has firmware version 3.40 OE-A and I went to the us.playstation.com website as it shows on my media manager to get updates and such for firmware and saw that the newest was 3.50. I haven't done anything yet with it but try to update the firmware and fails every time. I get the error the game data couldn't be saved. ( DADADADA ) like I said I have yet to do anything on this but try to download a game demo from that site only to see that I need the latest firmware. So I try it using my card reader and no I didn't format the card on the reader either, did as instructed PSP>>>>GAME>>>>UPDATE as indicated and the PSP sees the firmware but get the error as I posted earlier. I have contacted CS on this and they made me do the normal walk through on trouble shooting. The first night I called them I was asked to reset the PSP setting to factory and then when that failed I was asked to reformat the memory stick and try again just to see it fail. Then I called the other day again and they asked that I get another memory stick and try again and I did to see the same error yet again. They also stated to me that since I have formatted the memory card is the reason why I get this error but I can't believe that as they are the ones to ask me to reformat the card in the first place. From my findings there is no new UMD games that may have this firmware on it I believe. I have also tried to update the firmware using the wireless connection on both to get the same results again. I have consulted with some game shops to only stump them as well. I haven't altered anything in the settings either. So I googled PSP help and read through some of these posts that you have here and saw that there is some users here that really know their stuff and hope to figure out the problem I am having. I also want to add that the battery is fully charged and connected to the power cord when attempting to do this as well. I hope I have been very descriptive to eliminate any other questions needed. Oh let me add that the default memory stick I got with the PSP was a san disk 4 gig, the other stick I bought was a 512 san disc memory stick.
