Within the past month my PSP's D-pad has been what I would call 'sticking'. My FW is 3.10OE on an original Japanese PSP (I live in Japan and bought it the day it was released). Is this a common problem for the PSPs D pad to stick in one direction after lot's of use? I'm just hoping it has nothing to do with the fact that I use a hacked FW.
I first noticed the problem when I was using my PSP GPS (Mapple). All of a sudden, as I was driving, the cursor would just start scrolling to the left taking my view of my current location on the map. A good mashing of the D pad or pushing real hard on 'right d pad' often resolves the problem. I thought maybe this was only a problem with Mapple and my GPS but last night while playing FF9 on PSP, Zidane just kept running to the left! I hit Home, hoping this would do something but it ended up just freezing the PSP. So, I reset, but in the PSP menu screen it kept me stuck to the left and wouldn't move right....so, i kept tapping/pushing right and eventually it moved...but bounced right back to the left. At this point I gave the D pad a thorough mashing and the problem was resolved.
Has anyone else encountered a problem like this? Is it a Hardware problem or a 3.10OE problem? I know sening my PSP to Sony for repairs is out of the question, so if the problem becomes unfixable by mashing....what are my options regarding the D pad, short of buying a NEW PSP and going through the nail biting experience of upgrading to an OE without bricking it?
Thanks for any feedback.
