Default PSP Not Connecting to PS3 or Router

Weird problem creeped into my PSP recently. The PSP won't connect to any wireless source, whether it's my PS3 or my wireless router. I was running 3.40-OE for the longest time and then all of a sudden (not sure when) it would no longer connect to the router. I couldn't figure out why this was happening so I upgraded to 3.52-M33, but that didn't fix it. I downgraded to 1.50, tried connecting, still got the same error. I'm back at 3.52-M33 and reset the flash1, still nothing. Reset the default settings in the PSP system menu, nothing.

There's only a MAC filter on the router, no WPA/WEP encryption. I tried turning off the MAC filter, and it still doesn't connect. My desktop and PS3 connect wirelessly to the router just fine.

The connection error simply says "Error connecting, check security settings on router". I know the wireless portion of the PSP still works because I can scan for other networks and it will pick up the radio of other networks, but it can't connect to any of those either...

    Anyone have a clue?

    Sounds like your Wifi died.

    -=Double Post=-

Does your PS3 recognize your PSP as a PlayStation Portible, or is it labeled as "USB Card Reader" in the PS3 XMB?

I thought it might be that, but it will detect networks if I scan them. I just can't connect to any of them.

My PS3 detects the PSP when I connect it into remote play and will read the MAC address but not connect remotely after the initial USB connection is established to initialize the connection. Weird, eh?

I'm not sure what you mean... you mean the SSID of the router? That wouldn't explain why I can't connect to the PS3 though...

in any networking enviroment, there a download and upload (receiver and transiver). Looks like the upload part of your wifi is dead.....it can receive network signal but fail to send info (i.e access codes etc) to the router or ps3. It is a hardware malfunction, and i can't recommend you where or how to reapir it as i'm not familiar with the psp system (i've not gotten a chance to open up one or experiment on one yet). There is a very small chance it is the software but i doubt it as you have used at least three FW with no avail. (The other probability is that a virus crept into your psp...not sure there's such a virus for psp yet)

The only thing I know about PSP/PS3 connectivity is that if the PS3 reads the PSP as a "USB card Reader" or something like that, you need to fix your PSP IDstorage keys (except 5). I had that problem with mine. I dont think that applies here though.

I had a problem once where my PSP couldn't connect to the router. I can't remember what solved it. It was either resetting the router to factory settings, or reinstalling the PSP firmware. Try both and it should work again.

Neither option did it for me... To top it off, AOSS setup doesn't work either (I've got a Buffalo router).

Not that either, my PS3 detects the PSP as a PSP and even lists the MAC when I go to the remote play connection.

Seems I've got one of the weirdest bugs ever, huh? Btw, the exact error says: "A connection error has occurred. A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security settings for the network and try again."

Sorry for resurrecting an ancient thread, but thought it might help somebody.

I don't know if this pertains to anybody else's problem, but I was experiencing the same behavior from my PSP and I think my problem was cause by my router being set to 802.11g only. Make sure you have your router set to "Mixed" mode.

Being set to G only, my PSP was able to see the router but would give me the security settings error when I would try to connect.
