So I decided to take up programming for the PSP. I did some searching and read about Cygwin and the whole pspdevkit set up. I tried it out. It was a huge pain to get it all installed, it took hours, then when I finally got Cygwin running, it game me an error when trying to install the toolkit.
After a little more searching I found MinPSPW, "A native Win32 port of the BSD PSPSDK (ps2dev), with freely distributable import libraries and header files (DevPaks) for building cross compiled homebrew Sony PSP (PlayStation Portable) applications."
I got that installed and working fine with Microsoft Visual C++ Express. Compiled and tested a Hello World app using the setup as well, all of it was very easy to set up and seems to work fine.
I've used MS Visual C# Express with Zune/Xbox 360 XNA in the past so I really like the Visual C++ setup and its a lot more comfortable and familiar to me than the whole Cygwin setup.
My question is whats the difference between my current setup(MinPSPW + MS Visual C++) and the usual Cygwin setup? Will I run into issues in the future using MinPSPW? Like not be able to use certain code, not be able to build a full game, etc?
Thanks to anyone that helps.
