Hi all. I'm having this weird little issue with my PSP. When I got it from my friend, it worked just fine. I tried to upgrade the custom firmware he had on it from 3.51 m33 to 5.00 m33, and it semi-bricked on me. Would turn on, could go to recovery menu, etc, and I used that to fix it. Used it just fine for a year after that, until recently.
For a little while, when I would turn it on it would occasionally come on for a split second, then shut off. The green light would light up, then turn off. This would happen when it was in sleep mode as well, much to my annoyance. Then, starting about 3 weeks ago, it would just stop coming on altogether. It would do the same thing with the green light, for varying amounts of time, sometimes the green light would stay on but the screen did nothing. I immediately assumed it was bricked somehow until it would start occasionally powering up like nothing was wrong. XMB would come up, and everything seemed normal. It has a tendency to freeze a lot more often now, too.
Tonight, I decided to start looking around for some information on the issue, to see what i could find, and settled on the idea of creating a pandora battery using a friend's PSP slim and my battery. However, when I put his slim battery into my phat, to test if it would even power on (a no, as i'm sure most of you are aware), then put my own battery back in, I turned it on for kicks and it worked fine. It froze about 5 minutes later, and continued it's old antics until I swapped batteries once more. (I am left to assume since the time of writing, that this "miracle" with the slim's battery was just a fluke, as it is not fixing it now)
Now I apologize for the wall of text but I wanted to make sure the symptoms were clear. Is this a case of a bricked PSP? Would pandora fix this? Or is it a hardware issue? I'm so lost. ><
