So far I've been extremely satisfied with my PSP, but what happened earlier today is unacceptable. I have a Logitech Playgear Pocket Case, which was in its 'sitting' position on my desk, when my PSP accidently slipped out and fell forward onto a desk. A fall that's about a grand total of 2 inches.
Since then, UMDs will no longer load in my PSP. At first it made a load grinding noise when trying to load, then when I tapped the back, it makes no noise at all, except when I hold it close to my ear, where I hear something that sounds like an alarm going off (but is likely just the reader trying to run). I've tried rebooting it, and using different UMDs, to no avail. I don't suppose anyone has any ideas on how to get this working again?
Luckily, I have a Replacement Plan at Best Buy so I should be able to get a new one, but...come on. An expensive, portable system should not be this extraordinarily fragile. I don't understand how Sony could not expect a portable system to experience a few bumps in its lifespan, and the fact that its first minor bump wiped out its primary piece of hardware is simply not excusable.
I am sorry to whine like this, I am just very, very frustrated that a small fall could do so much damage. If anyone has any ideas on a simple way to fix it, I'd appreciate it.
