I recently bought a usb card reader from a local shop. Plugged it in, slid a 2 gig memory stick in, looked at the monitor... nothing registers. I look back to the card reader and theres a wisp of smoke and a smell of burnt plastic.
I immediatly whip the 2 gig out to find the end of the plastic casing has melted slightly. Three of the plastic strips running over the metal connector right at the end have melted and broken and theres a melted spot of plastic on the side with the Sony logo on.
The memory stick still fits in the PSP no worries, the PSP still reads the stick, and with no speed loss from what I can tell.
Im not new to PC's or card readers for that matter, I've checked the reader out and I definitly had the right slot, the stick was the right way round and inserted correctly. I'm taking it back to the store with the memory stick to complain, see if I can get some kind of compensation.
What I want to know is the safety of using this stick in the PSP. Im fairly confident it will do no harm but obviously I dont want to damage the PSP in any way. Anyone have experience similar to this in any way?
Thanks in advance.
