here's the deal, i've had my PSP ever since launch, but have yet to face off with someone else with a PSP, either through the wireless net or with someone in the same room. my brother just had a b-day for which he used to get the PSP. so now, naturally, we want to go head to head by taking advantage of the many games i have that happen to use game sharing feature (you know, where only one unit has to have an original copy of the game which then allows, in most cases, up to 8 players to join in on the fun using just that one copy??)
however, since i have never done these things before (multi-player using game sharing) with the PSP or any portable system, i can't seem to get this feature to work properly, or at all for that matter!! here's the short of it or rather, what i have done thus far...
-i'm trying to get the game Ridge Racer to work.
-first and foremost, i've made sure both PSP's network adhoc's channels are set to the 'automatic' setting (and yes, i've tried switching them both to 'channel 1' w/ no luck)
-i put the game in my system and start it up with of course the wireless/adhoc switch on the left side of the system turned on in the proper position.
-once the menu screen appears in RR i then go into wireless battle, host race, and then select class, track and so on. after a few moments, the 'waiting for entries' screen appears.
-at that point in time, i take my bros PSP and select the 'game sharing' icon, which then activates the 'searching for players, please wait' screen.
-and that is when nothing happens... both screens sit there for ever, doing nothing, accomplishing nothing! does my bros system have to have a saved file of RR anywhere in order to enter at least the title screen on his unit??? i'm just completely lost here!
i obviously am doing something wrong here. the sad part is that i think i predict it to be something very miniscule and or simple... knowing me, it usually is as of this point in time, i've only tried this with one game (RR... many times) due to the fact that my bros b-day was just 2 days ago. but i specifically remember people raving about Ridge Racers game sharing ability and how it worked so well...it being sort of the first of its kind(?) for a portable gaming system. but, before i try another game such as Twisted Metal, i would like to work out the technical issues i've overlooked. so thanx in advance to anyone for helping such an incredibly noobish noob out with a ridiculously nooby problem:)
