Default I keep getting this DNS error...

Everytime I try to connect to the net ala psp, it says "Communication with the server failed. A DNS error has occured (8041040D)". My linksys seems to work, it shows on my psp with 100% signal strength. And I typed in the website correct (ex: msn.com). Anyone else get this or know how to fix it?\

EDIT: And while I`m at it what is with this bs cache system eh? A flash game thats 1.4 mb works almost all the way to the end and a 646kb flash game would say "Out of memory" as soon as I clicked start! My cache settings is on the 2mb one. Which is better to use, that or "Do not use"?

Does it show "Internet: Succeeded" when you do 'Test Connection'?

Try using an Easy/Automatic connection and see what happens.

Try restoring default settings.

Also, you are posting/online using a connection through that router right? (Just to make sure that the router is letting you go online).

Well then.
The basic structure is:
Internet > Modem > Router > Computer/PSP/Laptop

You cannot just plug it into the computer and expect it to to work.

Well it is. Just not with the same cable.

Internet >usb> Modem >ethernet> router

PC doesn`t have an ethernet plug on the back

With the usb modem it's:

Internet > wall > phone line > Modem > usb > PC

right?

And there isn't an additional lan jack right?

Cause I remember getting a usb modem from my ISP and it wouldn't work with my router.

'IPCONFIG' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file

Um, then your installation is screwed. ipconfig comes standard -- C:\windows\system32\ipcon fig.exe . If that's not there, reinstall Windows, because you're likely missing some other important files.

...
It opens and closes because it's a console-based program. Run it directly from the command prompt.

And whatsmywhateverIdon'tcare gives you your public IP, rather than your local one.

Alright so it worked. Now how does this help me? All I get is a DNS suffix, IP, Subnet mask, and default gateway

now do ipconfig/all that should give you your DNS's and whatnot that you have left to fill out.

but ipconfig/all didn`t work before. I had to type C:\windows\system32\ipcon fig.exe for it to work last time.

C:\windows\system32\ipcon fig.exe/all "directory is invalid". Same with C:\windows\system32\ipcon fig.exe\all

No, it's just him. You have to put a SPACE between the .exe and the /all. Wow.
