Over last month or so, a crack has been forming on my PSP. It started about 2 milimeters to the left of the center screw on the bottom of the psp, traveled upwards through the faceplate and through the "S" in the PSP logo, reached the screen area and then continued at around a 45 degree angle going right for about an inch and a quarter. I can't see any distortion or ruined pixels (stuck/dead) in the area, and to my knowledge nothing is wrong with the screen itself.
My question is, is it more likely that this is just a superficial problem that can be remedied by changing the faceplate, or has my screen has been damaged as well and will need replacing as well?
EDIT: I have also just recently bought a face armor for it to prevent any further damage.
Yup, it'll just be the faceplate that's damaged. Mine did exactly the same, not matter how hard I tried to keep it safe. Now I'm using a crystal clear one I got from ebay, it hasn't cracked yet and was simple enough to swap over There should be a guide on here somewhere showing you how to swap the faceplate over, but it involves removing a security seal behind the battery, voiding any warrenty.
Yea, but most store chains don't check behind the battery if you bbuy a warrenty from them. And plus In GAME in the UK, you can exchange your psp with them and they'll send it to sony. Meaning that you can give it back with a void warrenty and get away with it, but not all stores are like this, so you just have to take your chances.
Yea man i made a thread which has been stickied on how to open up the psp and pretty much describes everything from how to change faceplates to how to change lcd screens. Check it out...
Thanks alot. Hopefully I won't screw anything up.
