Standard PSP up and left are perma stuck, need help!

I was installing the D-Pad mod for PSP and everything seemed fine until I noticed my Street Fighter 2 was jumping consistantly. I determined after finally being able to load NBA Jam that Up and Left are constantly being pressed. I believe this is the analog stick as the XMB does not have any problems. I have turned on and tested the PSP without the face plate and it does the same thing. I have no idea how to fix this or what caused the problem other than the possibility of not letting the glue dry long enough on the D-Pad cardboard. Please help!

If you tried it with the faceplate off then it is most likely not the analog nub because that is attached to the faceplate.

It sounds like it is a problem with the mod that you have made. The cardboard is probably too thick, I would remove it.

Out of interest why did you need to perform the mod, custom faceplate? Because my custom faceplate had no problem with the dpad the analog started messing up due to the screw behind it not being tight enough.

When I actually use the D-pad in the cross media bar, all four directionals, up, down, left and right all work fine. Any game that doesn't use analog stick I would be fine with I am sure.

Also, the problem occurs when the face plate is totally off, which includes the actual D-pad with the cardboard. If it was the D-Pad, how come the D-Pad works when I have the face plate on?

If someone takes their face plate off, could any of the directionals be triggered because no screws are on? Is there any game or other way I can test the directionals and the analog to see the exact source of the problem?

The analog stick can be a problem. Mine is broken, so I have to buy a new one. Right now the analog still registers as moving down, even though there is no stick or faceplate.

I know that no one on here will listen to me anymore but hey WTF.

When the face plate is off the PSP, contact can still be made with the Analog contacts on the PSP because there is a small plastic contact with small gold pins touching the contacts on the PSP Motherboard.

If this has got stuck in a certain way it will cause the PSP to register a movement and as such makes it beleive it's going up, down, left or right.. depending on how it's stuck.

Simply remove the plastic and give it a clean and replace with the pins facing from left to right not up and down, and on replacing the Face Plate you should find that your problem is fixed.

    Here is an image:

    Hope this helps.

I never thought I'd see you here again. Oh well, that was helpful for him, so I won't say anything more.
