Wireless Access Point
Hi guys, i'm very new to these forums so please go easy on me.
I currently have a setup in which my modem connects directly into my wired standard router which then goes to my PC and Xbox, is it possible to connect a wireless access point or similar hardware to one of the ports of the Router to connect to my PSP via Infrastructure mode?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
2 ways you can do it..
1st & best
just as you said - buy a wireless ap and run a cable from one of your spare router ports into one of the normal ports on the ap (any port but the uplink, basically). turn off dhcp on the wireless ap and you're set - the wired router will hand the wireless ap an ip as if it was another machine on the lan, and your psp would be able to connect to it.
buy a wireless usb key, stick it into your pc and run it in ad-hoc mode - your psp will then connect to this and the connection will tunnel through your machine. i don't know if this works for all games in infrastructure mode (untested), but i do know it works when playing games such as ridge racer (which do not have infrastructure mode) online.
basically, the way you originally thought - i.e. method one, is the way to go...
Thanks so my way would work best?
I have got a wireless usb adpater but i could never get that work, plus doing that wont work in infrastructure mode.
If my way works well, do you have any recommendations on which ones to buy?
