Access Point Problem
My PSP used to work fine (Under DevHook) for browsing the web. Randomly, one day I could no longer connect to my router unless I was right next to it. It gave the message like: "Couldn't connect to access point... please check security settings." So, I would go up close to the Router and could connect fine (wtf???). I am on a WPA connection and remember I didn't change anything (such as firmware) before this began to happen.
I checked my router settings and could not find the problem there... My MAC address was allowed and I have the key correct.
Firmware 2.71 SE-B came out and I decided to upgrade my PSP from 1.5 to it, thinking that if it was a software problem it might get fixed. It didn't and it still did the same thing. The long message "Couldn't connect to access point... please check security settings." was still displaying. I would do a scan from a place where I couldn't connect and it showed the signal strength at like 97%.
Last week (Mind you I didn't make any further firmware changes) I couldn't get a signal anywhere. I could have my PSP touching the router and it would still say "The access point could not be detected". Please help me solve this problem as I am hoping it isn't a physical failure inside the PSP (My warranty is void, because I have a PSP and a box that don't match... I traded PSP's with a friend a long while ago to get a 1.5.)
i normaly get that error when the signal is weak
I don't know why I cannot fix it though... I rebooted my router and it persisted. Even if the signal is weak, I should be able to access it from near by, and I cannot access the internet from RIGHT NEXT to the router. I literally hold my psp to where it is touching the router.
