Okay, like the title says, I've been considering getting a UP chip for a while now. Currently, I have firmware 1.5 on my machine, and use DevHook to emulate higher firmwares for my games; however, the latest news about newer games coming out that will defeat DevHook by reloading the firmware directly off the PSP's flash have me concerned. Theoretically, once programmers integrate this fully, DevHook simply won't work any more.
Because of this, I'm wondering if a modchip will give me the functionality I want. In essence, all I'm after is the ability to play the most recent games and keep my homebrew/emulators available to play. The problem is, I'm not familiar with how the Undiluted Platinum chip works.
If I have firmware 3.X on the UP chip, and 1.5 on the PSP, and a game tries to reload the firmware directly from the flash, would the UP chip be able to intercept this and send its own files in return, or does it only work on bootup? Would I be able to run 1.5 or a modified firmware on the UP chip and 3.X+ on the PSP firmware?
I've also seen a few posts about being able to reflash the main chip using the UP BIOS; does that mean I could up/downgrade the PSP flash to any version that has been decypted? Granted, this has little to do with what I want, but it's more something that has been nagging at me.
Anyway, thanks in advance for your answers. :)
