Default UMD Drive Fault..

Hi,

Now I know these forums have been flooded with people asking about how to fix their UMD drives, i've read almost every thread!

From Google and forum searching I have found that these are the main checks:

-Hold down the tab in the UMD drive and see if the laser works - OK
-See if the disk spins when you open the drive - OK
-See if the laser is moving up and down when trying to read - OK

I cannot think of any other reason why my PSP wont read disks, I have even removed the screw so it shuts properly!

Any help is appreciated

Thanks alot

laser is dirty or the disc(s) are scratched.

Thanks, my disks are 100% clean, how can I clean my laser? Will a cotton bud do the trick?

i would think it would. try it dry first. if that doesn't help ensure the psp is completly off and remove the battery. then dip it into a small amount of rubbing alcohol, but don't use to mush as it will drip inside the psp. then use a dry one to dry it.

they make laser cleaners for the psp, but i don't know how well they work. i got a motorized umd cleaner and it sucked badly.

Nope, tried that and it still doesn't work. Thanks anyway.

So I heard somewhere that you can somehow knock the laser out of position by dropping the PSP, and then move it back into place with a jewelers screwdriver, has anybody heard of this?

Any other ideas?

Thanks
