Hi, how is everyone?
I am new here, wasnt sure where to post this but closed my eyes and picked a place at random. No not really, but...
Anyway, I want to say that I have been reading the forums here for a while, since I first got my [used] PSP in Dec '06. Back then I didnt even know that Homebrew or 'hacking' or any of this was even possible. Since then, I have gone from fw2.60, which is what it was when I got it, to 2.71, 1.50, then Devhook->3.01, then to 3.40 OE-A. And the many homebrew apps including IrShell 3.1 and YES! I got nethost to work! All without posting once. (Not trying to brag or anything at all, you are all way smarter than I am at this stuff) but I love tinkering with all this.
Which brings me to one of the main reasons I am posting. I started out a long time ago programming in Basic, way back in the early '90s first on a really old TRS-80 Color Computer. That was all there was back then for me, we didnt have many pre-made programs so I dabbled in programming a little. Then we got a Tandy 1000RL and did a little more. Never got very far at all, and then I just sorta quit. Well later on I dove into the more current era and got a Windows computer in the end of the '90s and got Visual Basic 6. The point of all this is that I have a *very* limited programming background, but I would like to know how you all learned to program, and if anyone could point me in the right direction to sorta 'catch up.' I would like to contribute to the development of the PSP, but where I stand now, this is all over my head. For example, how do you know how to find exploits, how do you know how to program for the systems different periferals, i.e. the ir port, buttons, etc. I would really appreciate an entry level tutorial, info, whatever I can find. I find all this very interesting and would love to learn what ever I can.
One last thing: This is a great site, and thank you all very much for all the info thats already here.
