No he didn't, he said the "PSP scene", justified as in an object.Originally Posted by Slasher
Before this thread gets out of hand, and trust me it will, let me just say that I will have no tolerance for flaming or bashing of any sort (and I am sure the moderators feel the same way). From the amount of deleted posts in this thread already I can see where this is going. So either you guys keep this discussion low profile and this thread remains open, or you turn it into a flame fest and this thread ends closed with a couple of bans. Also, let's keep the unnecessary swearing and insulting away from this thread.
I dont think you guys understand Dax. I was here since the begging and he made his own ISO loaders back then as well he even called yoshihiro a faker which he was , but the point is that everyone has lost a little piece of innocence i know I have . So It is true everyone has lost respect but we just have to relieve it i mean back then when u fuc*** up your firmware modifying the fonts/background ( which was mainly 3 of the ways to modify the psp ) and people would respect if they bricked cause they knew the consequences and know they dont .
Why because we have it easy like pandora enough said . ( im not dissing on anyone this is just from someone whose being in the scene from 05 ) :)

Woah guys. This ain't a hit on Alex. I'm really grateful for his work, I would never not be. Yes Alex earned his respect for his HEN core and downgraders but, why do the new developers get no respect?
Surely they should be respected for contributing hours/days/weeks of their time to add to the PSP scene?
NickyP we didn't mean you to die. I'm not sick. We ment the PSP Scene, as an object.
We used your post as an example, there was MANY more we could of used, just we found your posts first. Bad luck I guess.
New developers in the scene do not get much credit, sad but true. But there are always devs who aren't getting enough credit.
The devs who have been slighted the most IMO are the ones who created the pspsdk. Yes Im sure they could care less about credits, fame, respect from the 'scene' etc. However, 99% of all homebrew (not including Lua etc) were created using their tools yet they get zero thanks from the end-users. But of course, they are not in it for the respect, they could care less what the 'noobs' think. They do it purely for themselves and just happen to also release it to the public.
So for new devs entering the scene you must ask yourself what your motivations are. If it's for fame and glory then you probably wont get very far. If it's just for yourself perhaps you should consider keeping it private if you dislike the way the 'scene' reacts to your apps. If it's purely for the benefit of the scene then you must have a thicker skin than that to have anonymous noobs over the internet affect you.
If you let the noobs' opinions affect you and you stop work because of them, then you have just validated them and let them win. Like I mentioned, DAX was treated a similar way in the beginning too but he just ignored the noobs and continued to work. And for that he has gained tremendous respect all around.
2) Added options to make a Pandora battery directly from recovery.
3) Sony modified their memory stick driver again, it runs at full speed again like back in 3.71 - Yes, I know, loading the memory stick driver from 3.71, but that is far from as stable as using the memory stick driver from the native firmware.
And, yes, there are people who use those features, just because you don't need them doesn't make them useless.
Also, please tell me what use 4.01 M33 has over 3.90 M33, then.
4) Pops never got better, it just got worse most firmware updates, hence the existence of popsloader. I don't know about video playback, I don't think it got improved. Internet search is useless, just bookmark Google.
I'm not saying that M33 shouldn't make 4.01 M33, I'm just saying that you're contradicting yourself by using 4.01 M33, while you say 3.95 GEN was useless.
4.01 POPS allows Final Fantasy VII to run at full speed so POPS isn't completely useless. Speaking of POPS, we need a new POPSLoader... (waiting for DAX to release latest version).
Also, remember when 0okm released his 2.80 to 1.50 downgrader: many people thought it was a fake. There's also work from Fanjita and Team N00bz; without them, it would not have been possible to downgrade PSPs with FWs 2.80-3.50 (note how I mention 2.80 because of the HEN Team N00bz developed to work using the libtiff exploit in 2.80).
Miriam hasn't got much praise but by making custom firmwares of "minor" updates, she will become more well known to the PSP homebrew community.
There was a point about how many people didn't like 2.71 SE when it came out simply 'cos the idea of flashing a firmware is very unfamiliar thanks to Devhook (which unfortunately is extinct).
I think the psp scene is a pretty cool guy. eh disses developers and doesnt afraid of anything.

Also, I never said 3.95 GEN was useless, like you somehow thought I did. I said it was no better than 3.90 M33.
Your question as to why new developers do not gain respect so easily is simple. We've had more than our fair share of "fake" developers wanting nothing more than attention. The empty promise of downgraders, emulators, exploits has left most of the scene members skeptical at any new release that seems too good to be true.
We had a PSP Media software that was supposed to come onto UMD that PSPU supported early on in its life - it had many high claims but it barely deliever when it was released...in eboot format.
We had PSix which looked amazing and then we had people who wanted to try to copy it...create their own unique shell and some even tried to steal code from one another (these are those that we give no respect to).
We've had plenty of of "You stole my code!" threads and complaints. This was very high with the constant stream of easily-accessible and editable lua coding.
Basically it comes down to many people hyping up a release that turns out to be nothing or something horrid. It comes down to people stealing others code..and when they do and release something under their own name - they lose respect.
What will it take?
Simple, do not create an announcement of an upcoming game or project until it is completed and you plan to release it. Also do not think that if you've released a new CFW based off of another's work that you deserve just as much credit or that everyone should be using yours - we've had several CFW wars and I'm sick of it. If you use someone's work, give them credit. A great example is Zx-81 (his work is fantastic and he's always giving the original author credit).
That's it for my little rant, please remain civil and do not attack anyone on these forums. We must all learn from what we and others say so please do not attack someone but rather enlighten them as to what they may or may not be seeing correctly (if it's opinion-based please keep it in PM)
Do you know who I am?
Let's take a look at three other examples. Seeing this is fading into a custom firmware war.
Back when Pandora was released, alot of people called Team C+D "Dark_AleX and his team", this didn't really seem fair to me, seeing as they shared their work equally, and 'nem' in the end found the exploit which begun Pandora.
A while ago Miriam updated CXMB with support for the 3.95 GEN and 4.01 M33 firmwares, she made a little mistake by using the 4.00 tag (0xDEAD0400) rather then the 4.01 tag (0xDEAD0401). No trouble was caused by this at all, seeing as the themes created by this version of CXMB just got the 0xDEAD0400 tag and it all worked fine.
Then, Poison says that the tag is wrong, and releases CXMB with a "fixed tag", but also removes support for 3.95 GEN.
Kratosjohn, disrespected developers by opening their work in a HEX-editor, changing the credits and releasing it as his own.
2bh Miriam could have changed the 4.00 tag into 4.01 so that there's still 3.95 GEN support but Poison *should* have included 3.95 GEN support. From what you say Bubbletune, some people are low by disrespecting developers but if you have the source code and you are the original developer, you can do whatever you want (I'm not saying it's right though: those sticking to GEN are now stuck without custom themes).
Thats my 2 pence (or cents as you americans call it ;) )
Im now a City of Heroes/Villians player.
