Ok my psp just recently got stolen (5 months ago)
. Now im thinking of buying another one, but i dont know which one. Im thinking of buying the psp original, because i think this psp is the best psp (my opinion) for hackers like me. But since psps 2000/3000 are out, the homebrew psp developers would create apps for newer psp's and make the psp 1000 left out. So now I now i need Your help to choose which one to buy. Take the poll please.

As long as it doesn't have the ta-088v3 motherboard, a 2000 series psp would work just fine (or better - because of the extra memory) for homebrew etc, I think the only real advantages a 1000 series has are the ease of use of (outdated) 1.5 kernel based homebrew and the infrared port, other than that, most homebrews and emulators would work really well on either system

Both of them are good but slim is better. You answered your own question though when it comes to apps or homebrew features that are exclusive to the slim. Of course its better to be able to use them then to not. The only thing the fat has that slim doesnt is the ir port, wasnt the most used thing but there was no need to lose it. Go with the slim but dont get one with an unhackable board.

I've owned both. I like the overall feel of the buttons on the slim much better. The extra ram helps a ton with load times and homebrew. It also feels more portable, you have less of a bulge in your pants. Also the battery life is exactly the same even though its smaller on the slim. Homebrew wise I haven't run into anything worth using that didn't run on the slim. You can also use a component or composite cable (with FuSa_SD plugin) to watch movies, play games, ps1, homebrew etc. on your TV.
My vote goes for the slim. It's more "futureproof" since you'd be losing out on homebrew that require the extra ram if you went with the phat. Not to mention features sony has been putting out such as skype. The only thing you'd be missing out is the IR homebrew features the phat had. If you even used them at all (I didn't). |

only homebrew using the iRda port on the fat cannot be used on the slims.

Ever since the release of Dark Alex's "Time Machine", the psp slim proved that it can do everything the psp-1000 can do and more. I have to be honest though that i really want the psp-3000 to be hacked, so that i can buy it and enjoy the awesomeness of the new screen.
