Hey no problem, it's almost midnight here in Oregon, and as nick48 said I'm tired and going to bed.
At least we got the Homebrew-ENabler running on your official firmware 2.80 psp as it is and without hard-modding your battery, that's great! Keep in mind that for now, in order to run homebrew applications or games from the GAME menu in the psp XMB you will have to first enable HEN from the photo menu every time you fully power off and on your psp until you update to m33 custom firmware. Again, welcome to the forums; just keep searching through the guides and ask if you need help and you should be fine, I'm glad to have helped you out... *OK, I thought about it and tested it and there's no need to downgrade to 1.50, all you need to do now is this: 1-put the 500.pbp in your ms0:/ and 2-put the RECOVERY folder from hellcat's recovery flasher in ms0:/psp/game/ Then Enable HEN on your 2.80 as before by going to XMB/PHOTO and do the slideshow thing; after the psp shows the blue screen and restarts, go to XMB/GAME right away and launch the Recovery Flasher, choose the option to install "m33" of firmware version 5.00 and when that's finished installing, you are done! Plus you can get rid of anything on your memorystick you will no longer need such as all the hen files.

Once its dumped it will be in a ISO format. At your main root create a folder called ISO and place it in there. But before you do anything, how big is your memory stick? |

Its only 1GB So how do you use it? -=Double Post Merge =- I think I'm really after messing up the PSP now. I tried the Dumper but music just kept playing. So I was looking through the programs on it and tried the X.YZ update. It said about cdoing a Flash and to click R not to. R wouldn't get me out of it....neither would any other buttons, so I powered it off. Now the screen has NOTHING on it apart from the background screen colour. Please tell me I haven't screwed it up. Weird...I decided to pop open the door at the back and the creen shot into life.....yipeeeee -=Double Post Merge =- Well I'm back to trying UMD Dumper but just getting music to play with a Black screen, is it actually dumping or is something else happening? -=Double Post Merge =- Don't ask me what I done but I think I have just wiped the UMD game that was in the PSP, any idea how I done that? Sure it ain't possible for the PSP to write over the data on the UMD disc? Last edited by GAFF; 03-04-2009 at 07:44 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Guys really sorry for asking so many stupid questions but all this is so new to me, you'd need to be a software programmer to work it all out Fair play to you guys for stepping me through it all. I know it can be very easy to say to search but it's hard to know what to search for. From your responses it gives the impression of a very friendly site....well done

Here is a guide I got from Stylemo.com
The Requirements * A Fat PSP (a.k.a. PSP-1000) installed with the latest custom firmware 5.00 M33. * Enough battery so your PSP wouldn’t accidentally turn off in the middle of the flashing. (75%) * USB Cable The Guide 1. Connect your PSP to your computer and put it in USB mode. 2. Download the official 1.50 firmware and copy it to the root of your PSP’s memory stick. You can get the 1.50 firmware here. 3. Download the 1.50 Kernel Add-on for 5.00 M33 installer here, extract it anywhere on your computer and copy it to /PSP/GAME5XX. 4. Go to your XMB and scroll to GAME;Memory Stick then run the 1.50 Kernel Add on update. Follow the onscreen instructions and wait. The PSP will restart automatically after the update has been installed. 5. Congratulations, you now have a full homebrew enabled PSP. The reason of this is because some homebrew can only run on a 1.50 firmware PSP, what this does is delete LFTV and replace it with some 1.50 files which then lets you run the apps and games that only work for 1.50 To change between kernels, you turn off psp completely and then hold down the R trigger and then power on the psp, you should be in recovery mode. Then go to Configuration and then go to the 5.XX Kernel and press X, it should now say 1.50 Kernel. Go back to the main menu and press exit and try running the program again. |

I'm not too sure what the UMD Dumper runs on, it might be the 5.XX or the 1.50, if the app can only run on 1.50 firmware then this kernel lets you run it on 5.XX firmware.

With the Helicat I selected 5.00 M33 which lets me play my games that I backed up onto my memory Stick using UMD Dumper. IIRC There was an option on Helicat to change the PSP to 1.5 firmware. |

Okay, some homebrew only runs on 1.50 firmware. But if you want to stay at 5.XX firmware and run the 1.50 homebrew games, then you install the kernel. Try switching to 1.50 and run UMD dumper if it doesn't work on 5.XX.

My bloody battery seems to have decided not to work.
I bought the PSP off a mate 2nd hand, he did mention it was poor at holding its charge. Now it doesn't seem to want to take any charge as the minute I plug out the AC it goes off. I "think" the AC is trying to charge it as the light flashes Green/Orange with battery in place. It is just green without battery. Could the firmware upgrades have affected it? What are these "replacement batterise" like? Seen this one, http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/prod...ucts_id=100917 |

I had another look at my battery this morning and ended up breaking the connector. So decided to get one from the link I posted above. I used the shop for other stuff and was okay so I said I'd chance it. I actually then went and bought 2, (approx £20) and a 8GB Card. I'm going to US next month to do Route 66 so thought I'd have something to pass the time on the flight....between films and games. I assume the only thing you can do it convert the "Replacement" battery into a Pandora battery. But if its safe to use, works with my backup games, and gives a few hours of use I'll be happy. |

Well if you managed to get the CFW running, then download a program called PSPTool and put it in ur game section, then you can turn your battery into a pandora's then back to a normal.
This is called a soft-mod. |

The helicat software has an option to switch to Pandora Battery. Is there a problem with doing this with a non-genuine battery?
