I wanted to create the ultimate, portable gaming machine.
First I started off by selecting the PSP-3000 as my platform.
- Better Screen (5x the Contrast Ratio of previous models)
- Clicky buttons, not Sticky
- Built-In Mic (More of an Afterthought, but still nice)
It's slim and light weight. Perfect. All portables should be.
Using a PhotoFast CR-5400 and two 16GB MicroSDHC Class 2 Memory Cards, my PSP will be able to hold more than enough to keep me entertained.
After formatting the memory stick(s), I've upgraded from Firmware 5.01 to Firmware 5.03. I installed ChickHEN R2, and then Custom Firmware Enabler 3.50.
With plenty Games, Videos, Music, and Homebrew at my disposal, it would be a waste to have the PSP die because of the small battery it has. To avoid this, I upgraded from the 1200mAh standard battery to Sony's Official Stamina battery back intended for the PSP-1000.
Rated at 2200mAh means an almost 50% increase in playing time (logically). This is what is the result (an estimate - Remember!)
There is a bit more "Junk in the Trunk" but I don't mind at all.
It didn't really take much. Only a large memory card and a bigger battery...
Now I can play PSP games, PS1 games, all sorts of emulators, Music, Videos, and Browse the internet on my PSP without worrying if i'll run out of juice.
