This is something funny. Here is a pic of a box I "buried" my PSP in because it's basically fried and here is the story to go with it. I didn't literally buried it but I put styrofoam peanuts in a box and wrapped it in brown paper, painted it black, and had my sister do the rest. It's now sitting on a shelf.
Back in last August I was getting ready to go to my second day of driving school and I decided to take my PSP along for the long and boring one hour lunch break I'd have to spend with my aunt (she's the driving instructor). Before I left that morning I sat in my dad's chair and I hear this strange crunch coming from my pocket. I didn't think of it at the time I was to nervous to bother. Then time went on that day and I was at Subway getting lunch and the line was really long and I take my PSP out to turn it on and there were 2 cracks going through the LCD. I thought I was maybe hallucinating so I turned it off and back on and the cracks were still there. I then felt a dread come over me because I knew I wouldn't be able to buy another PSP for several months. I didn't panic or freak out I just calmly put it back in my pocket. When I got home I told the family the bad news and everyone mourned. That whole day I went researching on the internet to see how much a replacement screen and service would cost.
About a week later I found a replacement screen fairly cheap for only $80. I started saving up (slowly) to get it and my dad said that there was an electrical engineer at his work that would re-soulder the screen back in for me. So, I gave it a shot because I didn't really have a choice. After the screen arrived my dad gave it to him the next day and the guy had it for about 4 days. I was doing laundry the day my dad came home with it and i saw it sitting on the table when I walked in the door and I jumped for joy but that's when my dad said, "Don't get to excited he said he somehow there isn't any picture on the screen. It lights up and turns on it's just that there is no picture." This was when I seriously got pissed off and stormed in my room. I started jumping the gun saying I'm going to trade in all my PSP stuff and blah blah blah. My mom told me to shut-up and to find a PSP repair service online. After about another weeks of research I found a place that would do it for $35 and give me my money back if it couldn't get fixed. So I saved up the $35 and sent it on its way and about 2 weeks later (this was during the Christmas holidays) I got an email saying that the PSP's main board is fried and the guy who tried to fix it before me fried it. So I was pissed and I realized I'd have to buy another PSP. Well it came back and for the next 2 months I saved up for another (I could have bought one right away but my parents took my Christmas money away because they "needed" it).
So I bought another PSP about 4 days ago and it should be here in a few days. I bought it off of Ebay for $200 and it's brand new. I went through hell on Ebay to start with because the first bid I won the guy wouldn't sell it to me because he said he was ripping me off. The second time I bought one through a "Buy Now" the guy distributed them all locally. So now I will have one again (about 7 months later) and I will be joining the PSP community once again, and to think I was going to buy a DS because I thought I'd never get a PSP again...
