Thiks is the second tutorial in the howto make a psp hoax series.
This IS made as a JOKE. Although, they are indepth steps, and you will get the right outcome, we all know they are fake.
Got an idea for the next tut? Reply/PM me.
What you'll need for this tutorial:
Photoshop (I use 7)
A PSP (any version)
Slight bit of Photoshop knowlage.
First of all, lets make a small introduction. In this tutorial, you'll learn to make a 'new sony firmware' hoax. Its pretty basic, but, it gets the job done. I made this 'cause of all the '3.0 picz!11' popping up, none of which I belive to be real.
I made a small experiment to see how effective this was. The outcome was pretty good, although small. See the thread on QJ.NET forums here, PSPCrazy forums here, or my site, here
Alrighty, now thats sorted, lets get started.
Open up photoshop, and press ctrl and n (new). Make an image 272x480 with RGB colour.
Now we've done that, we need to create a background. Tend to use a dark colour, i'm gonna' use blue. (my hex is #012448)
For effect we're gonna add some text to the background. Choose the text tool (the T!). For this part of the tutorial, i'm using a white tahoma font, bold, size 27 with smooth AA. I'm gonna' type sony beta.
Now, i'm adding some sub text to the 'sony beta'. I've used Tahoma, regular, font size 10 and smooth AA. I've typed firmware 3.0.
Now thats done, we need icons. Select the custom shape tool (see below, to open the menu, hold down a click on the 'splat'.
Now, at the top, you'll see this:
Now, this is where it gets important. Click that box next to colour, and select a white colour.
So now, we've done the basics. This is where it gets hard. Click the V next to 'shape'. Then, click the > and choose all (it looks easier on the pic.)
Now you've got this up, you now have your menu icons. For a start, i'd go down and choose the globe. This is almost identical to the official sony one, therefore, will make your pic more belivable. Choose it and draw it with only about a 1/3 on screen. Make sure its rather high up (1/4 down) and not too big (it should be close to the XMB or PSP menu size.)
Uh oh! We've hit a problem.. we have no outer glow! Or do we? On the layers bit, click the shape 1 layer 'till you get this menu up:
Click the 'outer glow' and tick the box next to it. Now, you'll have a new menu up. double click the colour and choose a rather light grey (I used #e4e4e4). Make sure all your other settings are identical to mine!
