My L button has been screwing up for a long time now and this past month I have been able to fix it by bashing it every once in a while, no I don't mean stuck like the button is pressed down, I mean when I release the L button all the way up the PSP still thinks it's down. So I was going to open it but I didn't know if it required removing the whole faceplate or not, but it didn't, and here's how to do it:
Before you start:
Before you start go to your PSP's menu and go to the network settings. Once there select infrastructure mode, now select new connection, now go to the connection's name and leave your PSP's volume on 1. You will hear an annoying tapping noise because your L button is stuck but this is the easiest way to tell if your PSP thinks it's down or not. Now proceed with the rest of the steps.
First you will need a really small screwdriver that looks something like this.
You will only need to unscrew one screw to fix you L button and that is this screw shown in the picture below, make sure you screwdriver can do this and start screwing *Be sure not to strip the screw*
Step two-removing the L button:
Now here's the tricky part your going to need to wedge open your PSP in the corner, and keep it open. First get an ordinary pencil eraser. Now pull up on the faceplace of your PSP next to the L button, once it is up enough wedge the eraser in (as shown in the picture below) to keep the PSP opened.
Once you have done this the L button will be very easy to take out
Now once the L button is out remove the rubber part, this might be easy to do with the screwdriver.
Step three-fixing the L button and finishing up:
Now that the rubber part is removed you will see this
Now if you look closly at the zigzag metal part you will see a thin piece of plastic covering it to fix my L button all I did was push the piece of plastic up a little bit (Without taking it off) and it stopped, you make have to wiggle yours around or do something, but this is where to fix it.
Once you have fixed it put the rubber piece back into place, make sure the rubber is latched onto both parts(This is especially easy with the screwdriver)
Now put the L button back into place and remove the eraser ***BE SURE NOT TO CHOP THE ERASER IN HALF AND LEAVE HALF OF AN ERASER IN YOUR PSP***
After that screw it back up and your done :icon_wink
I hope many of you found this useful.
