RemoteJoy GUI Guide Preface: After having ( a little ) difficulty getting RemoteJoy GUI working since the ReadMe may not be entirely sufficient for most users, I decided to write a guide that goes into a little more detail. Files Needed: -RemoteJoy v1.51 -Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 1. First off, download the .NET 2.0 framework and install it. This allos for the RemoteJoy GUI application to run. If you don't install it, you will have to manually type the different commands and whatnot. 2. After running the .NET installation, unzip the RemoteJoy folder. Inside, you will see another archive entitled 'LibUSB'. Unzip that archive as well. Spoiler for Picture:
3. As soon as your done extracting LibUSB, go into the folder titled 'PSP FW 3.XX OE'. Copy the PSPLink folder into: X:/PSP/GAME3XX/. Spoiler for Picture:
4. Go into the folder called 'SEPlugins' and copy all of the *.prx's the seplugins folder on your PSP, which should be located at X:/seplugins 5. I regret to inform that you whilst getting RemoteJoy working myself, I had to go and install the driver, I am not aware of how to undo this, else I would provide screenshots and all the nessecary steps into doing it. If someone can tell me how to remove the LibUSB driver, I'll undo everything and add screenshots. So until then, the ReadMe will have to do. Quote:
by holding in 'R'. Go into plugins and disable all of your plugins. The specific *.prx's that you just stuck in there don't need to be activated. But for simplicity's sake, just disable everything. 7. Exit recovery and launch 'PSPLink v3.0 OE' from the GAME section. 8. For now, all you should see is a black background with some white text at top. Go into the RemoteJoy GUI folder and launch the 'RemotejoyGUI' application. You should now see a new window. It should look like this. Spoiler for Picture:
9. click the 'Start' button under the picture that reads 'USBHost FS'. A new cmd window should pop up. If all goes well, it should look like this. Spoiler for Picture:
10. click 'Start' under the picture that reads 'PSPSH'. A new window will show up, it should look like this. Spoiler for Picture:
11. You now have a choice, you can either go fullscreen with or without an FPS counter, or a windowed view with or without an FPS counter. I like the windowed without FPS counter best. Whichever you choose, click an option. Depending on what you chose, a new dialog box shows up. It should look somewhat like this. Spoiler for Picture:
12. Select the 'Load Rjoy PRX' option in the RemoteJoy GUI. Now the RemoteJoySDL window should show what's on your PSP at the moment. Which - if you followed this guide - should have the white text at the top of the screen. Spoiler for Picture:
13. Now you can pick the 'Load VSH' button in the RemoteJoy GUI application. **Note: It can be tricky getting it to run. Sometimes I will have to click 'Reset VSH' and others 'Load VSH'. I think it's actually just the order in which you do it. I'll have to update this guide some more later. It's getting late anyway. >_>** 14. If all went well, in the 'RemoteJoySDL' cmd window, you should see the XMB. Now for some pictures. Spoiler for Pictures:
15. This guide is still a very much work-in-progress. By all means post tips/hints/solutions/alternatives, whatever. I shall give credit where credit is due. I have been having issues hooking up my PSP to my computer after doing this, I've reverted to just using my MS reader instead, so be wary. I'm not responsible for issues you may have. Spoiler for Game Compatibility:

You should add how to get it up and running in game. We should make a compatibility list with games it works with. GTA LCS UMD freezes at loading from memory stick, Burnout Dominator ISO freezes after gameboot and DBZ Shin Budokai Another Road ISO freezes after gameboot as well.

Has anyone else tried this with custom icons? I had just put custom icons on my PSP a little while ago, and just had a partial brick after I tried getting RemoteJoy to work. I'd boot up into recovery mode, and then try to exit, but the screen would just stay black. So I enabled flash0 on USB and replaced my topmenu_plugin.rco with my original one, then tried exiting recovery mode, it worked like a charm...
So, don't use this with custom icons. And the list is updated.

Hey I'm playing monster hunter on this right now. Working great.
BTW, I have custom icons and everything working fine. Also, what do the Playback and Record bars do? And the PRX Location thing above it? Wishlist for future versions: Sound through computer speakers use PC controller (like Xbox 360 controller) to control turn off PSP screen and play on PC screen (you can hold the brightness button to turn off psp screen, and it still displays on pc) |

The icons won't matter. It's probably just some glitch. Remotejoy has frozen my PSP many times resulting in me having to uninstall it. 'Tis a glitchy program.

I followed your guide, but instead of clinking loadPRX i clicked reset VSH then Load PRX then Load VSH, it made the psp go to the XMB with out freezing. Though, when its about to show the icons and everything< it freezes... Help please? I havent added no custom icons or anything and all my Prx's plugins are disabled.

Yeah I did the same thing Kiko did and it didn't freeze and actually went to the XMB, and I have custom icons. Thanks for this app, it's really nice and is there going to be any more updates on it?
-= Double Post =- What I did was after I started the PSPLink v3.0 OE was start the apps in this order: USBHost FS -> PSPSH -> Screen size (ex. Windowed with FPS) -> Reset VSH -> Load Rjoy PRX -> Load VSH. And that's what got it to work for me and I'm using custom icons on a 3.30. Last edited by buru898; 06-23-2007 at 05:33 PM.. For sound through the computer speakers you'll have to use one of these:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...ormat=2&style= Plug that in to the microphone jack on your PC and connect the other end to the PSP's headphone jack. You might have to adjust your computer's volume settings too. Now you can record gameplay with sound. |

Just a tip for you guys, the problem why you people keep experiencing hangs when loading savefiles can be solved by pressing F5 before you load the savefile and after you load it finish, you press F5 again to bring back the screen. =)
F5 is for disabling the screen temporarily btw. |

We really need a new thread for this. The maker is perma-banned and I know how to get both GTAs working.

Thanks for the information KlicK.
I read a bit about using the RemoteJoy program but the information was pretty poor and very thin at the time, this is a easier to get to grips with than my earlier experience at reading the method about getting it up and running. I am hoping that I will never need to use this software but if I do, I will check your post again for reference and assistance. Thanks for taking the time to pass along your experience in using this program and for the updates as to what will work with it (or not). Cheers, Allen. :-) |
