can anyone give me some info on some program that will encode to divx 4.12?

VirtuaDub, as long as the needed DivX codecs are installed...

got one Q though... i have the video compression working but how do you compress the audio also?

Assuming you're using VirtualDub, go int othe Audio menu (next to Video) and select Full Processing Mode instead of Direct Stream Copy. Then from the same menu, select Compression, find MP3, and then choose a bitrate/format that meets the AVI player's requirements. 22050hz. Also, the higher the kbits, the higher quality it will be.

just figured out my Q thx anyway... but i have another one still!! with the frequency at 22050 the audio sounds like the movies when it goes into slow motion and someone shouts NNNNNOOOOO... :doh: anyway to fix this?
