Hello people, I've been thinking. Linux can be adapted to be used on any machine. Can anyone port something like Ubuntu over to the PSP.

no because the psp doesnt have an mmu,or memory management unit.the reason the xmb works otherwise is because the way a prx file is made(prx = Programable Relocatable eXecutable i think)which means the programs relocate automatically so the psp doesnt need an mmu.it probably helped on hardware costs and such,since it didnt need it.

Not without an MMU.

Without more than a video there is no proof uclinux is real.

Yes it is:

Uclinux yes

uclinux -> The Linux/Microcontroller project is a port of Linux to systems without a Memory Management Unit (MMU).

Ubuntu No -> bc its kernel implementations are based on architectures with MMU unit.

Its a POC.

uclinux certainly does work fine on the PSP ! I have it installed on my PSP. Some very simple demo programs can be run on it. Not too useful yet cause so far the uclinux port has no drivers to interface with the memory stick or the wifi module. Don't know if Chris M is still working on it or not. Further details here:
